I kind of thought he pulled them in to boost ratings and to show the world that these two women are doing ok. Kind of take them under his wing, if you will.

He may have come to Paula's defense in interviews....not that I recall that.... but he made her look like a drugged fool repeatedly on AI and not much better on XF.

According to Paula, they are very good friends. They talk often I don't think he made her look a fool, she was quite capable of doing that herself. Remember when she was critiquing someone and they hadn't even performed?? he jumped in and covered that up!

Anyway , Paula is doing something else( & may be working with Simon again) and the X factor has been fun for me
