I thought that 13 year old Rachel Crow was good, but not great. Yes, she's adorable, but not marketable.

I'm so glad that I wasn't the only one thinking that. I feel badly criticizing a child, but honestly, during her audition she just sounded so scripted, as if somebody in the family had coached her to say those things. Yeah, she's got a decent voice, but she's not the best in the competition by far.

Listening to some of them perform in front of the audience, a lot of them sounded off key at times, used more throat than diaphragm. You can tell some of them need voice training badly. Rachel is young and definitely needs more vocal training. When I lived in LA, my roommate was a talent scout. We use to watch American Idol together. She had me not look at the performance and close my eyes and listen to the voice only. It's no wonder blind people can get a true sense of certain things in life.

I can't speak for everyone, but you're not bothering me in the least! I'm interested in hearing how this show works versus other singing (generally speaking) competitions.

Thanks for your input! I too am hoping the show does well. Maybe by the time the live performances start up the viewership will pick up.

The first time I saw this show, my love for American Idol paled, and it's never come back. I still watch AI, but XF was always my favorite. I just loved the whole mentoring concept, the fact that they allowed older people, etc. It's just so...I don't know how to put into words.

And after this dreadful past season of AI, and NBC introducing that wonderful show The Voice (can't wait for it again, either!) I may be able to say good-bye to AI once and for all. Maybe.

AI was just tiring and boring this year. I didn't think the singers were worth my time or ears. AI is still a good show, but the people they decided to bring on board last season were blahhhhh! I know that they can do better.

My early favorites are Josh Krajcik, Leroy Bell and Melanie Amaro.
It will be interesting to see Josh "cleaned up" a little bit.
Leroy Bell sure does not look like a 59 year old... and is a beautiful singer.
And Melanie... she "wowed" me with her initial audition... I was disappointed that they did not show her singing on the Oct 6 version... only showed her making it to the top 16 girls... that girl can sing!
Stacy Francis needs to stop crying. Right now I find her a little annoying. Does anyone else think she looks a lot like LaToya Jackson??
I was surprised Nick Voss made it to the judges houses... he just seems too contrived/copycat to me. He singing was just okay... it was only his performance that was interesting in the least.

And yes, I agree with the crying. I know it's her last chance, etc, but the same thing applies to everybody else in her group! And she's certainly not the only person, regardless of age, who has a sad story.

Maybe she's just much more sensitive and affected than other sad-story people? Some people will cry at the drop of a hat.....of course, we don't really know what all she's gone through, either.

Didn't her father just die? Like, the day she arrived at boot camp? That would throw anyone for a loop I would think.

I remember that a lot of people in the industry thought that Justin Bieber wasn't marketable without having Nickelonian or Disney behind him. Guess what? They were wrong, and I'm pretty sure that LA knows how to market Rachel.

It was shown in Canada last night. Half performed last night and the others will do so tonight. I was wondering why FOX had the show from last week on. It was good, now if they could just elminate the commercials it would be perfect.....
