Bible dad really made me mad during this episode. Especially after the fake tattoo incident. He was getting a major attitude with Rock n Roll mom, while she was calm. Ugh..if I were her, I would have slapped the gray out of his hair!
Why do jerks like him sign up for the show if they don't won't to go by the rules?
I was born and raised in a part of country where people like Bible Dad are not only commonplace but glorified. I'm certain he doesn't feel he did anything wrong. He was raised with that mentality. He believes with all his soul that this is how God intends for him to run his family. And whatever money this family received from the network...you can bet Bible Dad got his hands on it first and dictated to the other family members how every penny was to be spent.
I thought the quote of the night came from Rock n Roll Dad. They were having breakfast post party, and Bible Mom started crying about "being out of her comfort zone" and how scary the Rock n Roll family was. Rock n Roll dad says, to the camera, "I'm wearing a freakin' polo shirt!" lol That just cracked me up for some reason. Then he shows us his slacks and (shiny) dress shoes. I liked Rock n Roll Dad.
Rock n Roll Mom was alright too. I'm amazed she kept her cool with Bible Dad. She deserves a medal for patience. However, she (and her husband) would subsequently have the medal taken away for allowing their children to 'educate" themselves for 2 whole hours per day. Education is too important to relegate it to second status. Don't they want their children to get into college? And states have various home-schooling regulations, but I've never heard of a state alllowing such a lax approach. I don't care if you had world class instruction, 2 hours per day won't cut it! And they had no instruction.
Bible Dad. I won't waste much time on him. What an a$$. I agree with the previous poster who said the producers should have contractually forced him to go along with the rule changes. Certainly the contract has some sort of damages remedy for breach or lack of performance. Maybe they need a better contract. I am available for such services.
Bible Mom. She definitely looked like a drag queen in her punk rock outfit. She made Robin Williams in Mrs Doubtfire seem passable. I'll give her credit for loosening up in the end, but I think a lot of the damage has been done. I feel bad for her daughter. She did not seem like a bad kid (from the little I saw). And Bible Mom is obviously happy being the servant to her husband and doesn't appear to want a change. I loved the look on her face when the Rock n Roll Family (and Rock n Roll Friends..and I think I saw a Rock n Roll dog) all prayed before eating. Priceless!
I only saw bits and peices, darn it, and missed the ending (OHHHH how I HATE having to be to work at 11) but I agree with you, Christel... all of you, actually. EVEN if, and thats obviously not the point of the swap, but EVEN if Bible Dad was THAT upset about a stupid little tatoo shop (let us all not forget he never mentioned the actual tatoo... he was too jived up about the SATANIC PORN LIKE ATMOSPHERE of a TATOO PARLOUR) he certainly could have handled it just a WEEEE bit more maturely.Originally Posted by Christel

I would have let him call the cops... the producers would have bailed me out, and laughed the whole way, right???, and the next new rule would have been no cell phones for Jr.
BUT... the home schooling thing was off. Glad to see (YEEAAHH for Rock n Roll parents) they were caring enough to see there was a problem and address it, with their kids support (it appeared.)
Poor Brittney is going to end up on the streets of NY as a "missing" child if her overbearing parents aren't careful. Glad to see at least Mom apparently realized that her daughter has the right to the Free Will God gave her. But she wont stand up to Dad. :phhht

Bible dad: Typical. I wasn't surprised at all, I've seen, lived with and have family members like him. They won't change. Ever! So, for Brittany to say that he has tried cooking...that's exactly what he did. He TRIED to make cheese sandwiches, burned them and that's it. No mas!
Also, he's the type I can see being in the KKK. Easily.
Brittany: Poor kid.At least she's had SOME exposure to a nice mother (aka Rock'nRoll Mom), and she can see that there are mother's out there that want to spend time with her. The mom said she'd rather DUST than spend time with her!!!!!!!
I'll drive to Dallas and free her in the middle of the night if need be. SEND ME A PM BRITTANY AND LET ME KNOW!
Bible Son: Typical. Just like dad, loves the rules cuz they all favor him and his MANHOOD. :rolleyes He'll stay home well after 18, only because it's going to take a while to find the right submissive and ignorant girl to marry. Then, he'll move out...cuz he's got the woman to do the work finally. The only footsteps for him to follow, are his dads.
Bible Mom: She (for the 1st week) was still in the IRONFIST MINDSET of the hubby in regards to Satan, sinning, etc.. so, she couldn't really open her eyes the whole way and see that she's been brainwashed to see life through a pinhole.. the pinhole her master made for her. The second week, as we saw..she totally loosened up. Suddenly she's doing 'things' to broaden her horizons in regards to what is right/wrong with how people should/could look like, and act.
Too bad that as soon as they sat and talked at the table....he QUICKLY regained control of his servant wife's thoughts. "Come onnn Wendy!! We're leaving!!" "Yes dear"..
The Rock 'n Roll family.. I loved them.
But there were two things I didn't agree with.. The kids needed more education and the house needs to be kept at least better. Which, by the looks of it in the end... they're doing.
What I totally adored was how everyone in that family spoke to Bible Mom in a way to HELP her understand 'other ways'.. such as, spending time with her daughter. Or, the acceptance of others who AREN'T like her family. They took the time to talk to her, and boy..did it help her! She did a 180...and it all came about cuz the family cared and shared.
Also, I sure home Bible Mom realized that the reason for RockNRoll kids to accept and actually wear the clothes, change hair and shave face...was because they're OPEN MINDED and willing to open themselves up to something other than what they're used to. Which, sadly...her family (well, the MEN) weren't willing to do.

The one thing that bothered me was the Bible Mom writing in their manuels for the other mom to read, that she hated her daughter. Brittany also said that her mom had told her that she liked the boy better. I dont understand how any mom could had showed such favoritism. I did like the way Bible Mom listened to the other children and they helped her to see that their rules were way tooooooo strict for Brittany. The Bible Dad popping a vein over a temporary tattoo was way too much! I do hope that Bible Mom will stand her ground and take back some of her independance and that she will stop jumping when Dad says so. I think the Rock and Roll family were really nice and taught the other family a lot. I dont agree with their home schooling and was glad to see that they have someone with a college education to come in and look over the childrens schoolwork. I am with you on the housecleaning Maveno.. there was no need for such a mess. I was really glad to see at the end Bible Mom and Brittany were working on rebuilding their relationship.
I have a little comment to make. I hate when parents show favortism. Hate it with a passion. When any of my three sons needed a little boost, I would tell them quietly that they were my favorite oldest (middle, youngest) son and not to tell the others. I forget when I got it from but it was in a movie many years ago. They finally caught on and realized that each of them was the only oldest,middle,youngest son. They each felt better about themselves.
Sort of along this line of thought......when I was a little girl, I told my mother, "you're the best mother I've ever had!" This was something she laughingly reminded me of from time to time.
Just as I'm so tickled when someone who appears to be firm in their beliefs, goes along with changing their typical mode of operation, I am terribly disappointed when someone refuses to go along with the rules. Good grief people, it's ONE WEEK. It's quite an insight into someone's nature when they can't entertain another way of living for one week. Twenty years from now, Bible dad is going to be a lonely, crabby old man, complaining about how rotten his daughter is because she doesn't spend much/any time with him, and who could blame her?
