Wickedly Perfect: Martha Types Food Fright
December 21, 2004 -- There are real advantages to staging a reality- show hunt for the next Martha Stewart — the food.
Seems that after contes tants were voted off the new CBS reality show, "Wickedly Perfect," the rejected Martha-types passed the time by mak ing huge and lavish meals in their hotel rooms, according to the trade magazine, Televi sion Week.
As usual, the bounced contestants were se questered in a hotel until the series was fin ished taping and a win ner declared.
But because the show was about finding the next big cook and party host, contestants turned their rooms into make-do kitchens with toaster ovens and hot plates.
"They were doing soups and seared ahi tuna," said "Wickedly Perfect" executive pro ducer Eric Schotz said. "Every day it became about the meal."
It helped that the people who were drawn to try out for the show in the first place were highly competi tive and perfectionists.
"I was so blown away when I went there," Schotz told the maga zine. "I thought, what's wrong with you people?"
"Wickedly Perfect" premieres Jan. 6.
