Thankfully in looks only, imo. To me her voice is light years ahead of Ashanti's in terms of vocal ability.

As a side note, has Christina really been at this since she was 4?
    Actually, she has.
She was on the New Mickey Mouse Club, along with Justin and Britney. She had already been performing a long time by then, as had the others.

I always think of them being older on the MMC.. don't ask my why. I guess I had just thought/assumed that was her first gig.

I agree! Finally realized a few seasons ago that a lot of the contestants on any talent show had some prior experience. In fact I realized that reality TV isn't very real at all. LOL At least The Voice admits that their contestants have had a few chances in the music biz but Idol still feeds the viewers of the show that they are really discovering unknowns and plucking them out of schools and churches of small town America. Randy pretty much said that yesterday on Ellen.

I have only watched 2 episodes of AI so far. Even then, I didn't pay all that much attention, so I'm not even sure who I like yet. One thing Idol has over Voice is that the audition process takes so long that it seems easy to get attached to those that get camera time. There is time to build a fan base.

The Voice has changed it up a bit, increasing the number of contestants on each team. Last year was brutal in the sense of hearing someone, liking them and seeing them eliminated right away. There wasn't much of a chance to really hear what they could sing, unless they went far.

I wonder if it would be a better battle if they had to pit one team member against another team, instead of their own team members.

Is anyone getting a sense of who might win this season? There are two that I could see winning, but would like to see what others think.

I have NO idea who may do well with The Voice. I was way off last season.

I agree as well! Especially when the premise of the show is to give a people at least a chance to be heard and picked (for the first round) based solely on their talent. I'm sure many of these people have been passed over time and again based on their looks. It's kind of a sad statement that in order to make super star level you can't be just talented. You almost have to either be drop dead gorgeous, strange as hell (gimmicky)(Lady gaga for example) or produce soft porn videos.

I loved the guy that sang the Cash song...It's an amazing song, but it's so rare that anyone attempts a unique version of it, and his was great.

I think it's absurd that the one girl...Nicole, says that the reason she doesn't have a deal yet is because she's been told in Nashville that country artists play guitar, not piano. That's a flat out lie. Phil Vassar is the 'piano man' of country in the past 15 years, and is known for being in incredible pianist. And he is far from the only country artist who plays piano. Luke Bryan played piano on 'Do I'. David Nail plays it. Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts plays piano on 'God Bless the Broken Road'. Taylor Swift played piano when she performed 'Back to December' on the CMAs. Ronnie Milsap is genius on piano. I could name dozens of artists/songs that feature piano, but I think my point is already made. Maybe labels have TOLD her that's the reason why, but from what I saw of her audition, it's because she has a weak voice.

I finally watched AI for the first time last week when they took two days to pick the final 24. That is one reason I like The Voice better. I just get tired of all the drama of AI. They could have cut each show by more than half. I do agree that all the people who appear on any of these shows have previous talent of one kind or another, but have no problem with that. One way or another they have to eliminate the talent. If it's done the way The Voice does it by having battles against each other or by people calling in and them getting eliminated as AI does it, you can still lose your favorite. I think AI goes way overboard with the drama and background stories and for me The Voice is a refreshing change from all of that.

I agree. Haven't watched much of Idol this year at all, the barfing episodes were just too much for me. I'm a pretty loyal viewer when I like a show and what is presented. I've watched every year of Idol but it is getting old. The Voice is new and fresh, just need a push to market their winner. The ratings are fantastic so far, hopefully they can keep the momentum.
