My husband and I both share a love of all music (except rap) and have an amazing cd collection of all types of music, but each of us have always had this love of country music, and have no idea where it came from. We grew to love it even more when country western clubs started popping up all over in the north and we ended up going for country western dancing lessons. We danced for 16 years and no matter where we traveled we took a pair of our boots so we could go dancing. Our favorite was the two step, but did both east and west coast swing, waltz, couples dances and line dancing. We even were on a cruise that had country night and we took first place in their dance contest.
Sadly, all the clubs started closing because the owners complained we didn't drink enough, because we were too busy dancing. Nothing was better than dancing to all the great live country bands when we first started. Later the clubs switched to DJs to cut costs and then eventually they started closing. You can still go to private places where the instructors hold dances about twice a month, but there was a point where we danced 5 to 6 nights a week. I have never had so much fun and met some of the greatest people along the way. Country music will always have a special place in my heart. It just makes me feel good.
