Andrea approaches design thinking of the big picture - the whole property, the whole house, the whole room. She believes that spaces need to function, make sense, and be inviting and comfortable. Blessed with an innate eye for beauty and with a combination of education and over 15 years of personal and professional experience, Andrea is primarily focused on design as it pertains to real estate and development. At 36, she has built and sold over 15 custom homes, as well as remodeled residential and commercial real estate including 2 movie theaters, and a historical building with loft apartments, a barn and more. Andrea has also helped creatively on several movie and music video sets. She is the owner of a real estate development and design company, Schroder Development, and is currently working on the development of a large lifestyle neighborhood in Western Colorado, in addition to other projects. At the age of 18, Andrea met and married her husband, actor Ricky Schroder. Together they live on a farm in the Santa Monica Mountains just outside of Los Angeles where they raise their four children, three dogs and various farm animals. Andrea is an avid gardener, homemaker, and belongs to various charities supporting children including Child Help USA.

Rick Schroder is her husband?

I wonder if that had anything to do with her being cast on the show...

Just for that, I hope that she gets voted out in the first episode. I'm sure there were more deserving soon-to-be-found talents who could really use the help more than she could. Andrea can ride Rick's famous coattails to make a name for herself.

I hate to be so cynical, but since it comes naturally , why not? I agree with what you said, i hate it when you have these talent contests, and then someone with connections, or more success comes in... You know she doesn't need the money or the press.. so why? There were way more people who need this show.

If she REALLY wanted to win this show on her own merit, she wouldn't have brought a pic of her and her FAMOUS husband, no matter how obscured his face was.

My daughter (she's 18) wasn't impressed at all . . . . "Rick who?"

I know he's all grown up now, but in my head, he's still "Ricky" from Silver Spoons

Many of the other contestants seem pretty well established already as well. I think she proved last night that she has talent and deserves a chance. Who's Rick Schroder?

I like Andrea, too. There are people who are automatically biased against her because her husband is a successful actor, but she's designed interiors for many homes, has raised her children, and now wants to branch out with her own career. A good many of the other contestants are well established in the field, probably more so than she. And how dreadful that she wants a photo of her husband of 20 years to keep with her while she does this show.

Rick Schroder was a child star of a tv show called Silver Spoons. He grew to be quite a good adult actor, most notably in the Lonesome Dove films. I think he's been a regular on one of the Law and Orders or CSI's. We never heard of him getting into trouble as he grew up or as a young adult -- no drugs, no arrests, no outrageous partying -- and he apparently married young and stayed married.

I agree. There are many other contestants who have been successful in their own right, and they still joined the show, just like Andrea did, probably to get their name out there even more.

The picture is not a problem unless you don't want anyone to know he is your husband! That is the whole point of this criticism. Go ahead and bring a picture but keep it in your personal belongings instead of framed on your bedside table!

If she was really trying to use her husband's connections to further her career, she would have bypassed this show and tried to go it on her own. The show may give her exposure, but I would think there are easier ways than being a TD contestant to gain a foothold in the industry if she has celebrity connections.
