Re: Top Chef Reunion 6/18 *spoilers*

I didn't have a problem with Tom's assertion that "we can all agree that the comepetition was [Richard's] to lose"; I don't think there was a lot to read into that statement, and it didn't seem to produce gasps from Lisa, Antonia or Stephanie at the time.

I do think that Tom's crack about Lisa definitely not winning fan favorite was cheap, and unnecessary. How can she come back at a crack like that? If she addresses it, she looks like a grouchy whiner again. She couldn't win in that situation. Not that the crack wasn't accurate and yes, she is a whiny humorless grouch, but still that's kicking someone when they're down. Bad Tom!

I didn't see the onesie (given to Richard for his baby) on the Bravo site. I thought it was mentioned that these would be for sale, along with that nasty tee shirt.

Also, I don't have a problem with Stephanie winning fan fave and TC honors. For those who say she shouldn't win both, it's akin to Miss USA not being able to win Miss Universe because she's already won something. Another argument could be for a student to win only one scholarship. If someone qualifies for all the marbles, then so be it. Good for you, Stephanie!

I didn't have a problem with that either, Stephanie definitely deserved both imho.

As for likeable Stephanie and Antonia here is what they thought of Lisa....
Editing can manipulate how we see cheftestants, but only to a point. It didn't affect the number of times she was in the bottom. Antonia and Stephanie weren't likely to bad mouth her after the season ended. That would have just made them look bad too so I take those interviews with a grain of salt.

Clearly many of the cheftestants had a big problem with her and they did not have an edited version of her. Her death stare at judges table wasn't exagerated and the judges and guest judges commenting on her attitude was not based on editing.

When Dale confronted Lisa near the beginning of the season about her negativity and how much it bothered him and others, she told him that he was the problem because he was misreading her. She refused to accept any responsibility for her bad behavior going so far as to say it didn't exist. Her defenders seem to be doing the same thing.

Yes, Lisa did well in the finale, but that was one challenge. Where were her talents the rest of the season?

I always thought you had great taste!

I hope future cheftestants take note how Stephanie managed to win so much this year. It wasn't just her cooking skills, but her people skills as well.

Tom has not said, to my knowledge that he would have kept Dale over Lisa had he been there. What he has said, is that based on the edited show we all saw, including him, that based on that info alone it looked like Lisa should have gone instead of Dale.

He didn't taste the dishes, so he would not say the decision was wrong, because he can't know the decision was wrong. But if you read his blogs he was saying that he understood why the posters were frustrated because all they see isn't all that happens at the judges table and that the editing skews what the outcome should be.

I had no problem with it. He told Hung the same thing last year, and what did Hung do.... he laughed! Lisa could've handled it just the same; brushed it off.

I voted for Stephanie as fan favorite for she was my favorite, not because I thought Richard would or should finish as Top Chef. (If not Stephanie, my FF vote would have gone to Jen.) Moreover, I am more than satisfied at how things played out with Stephanie as season 4 Top Chef and the fact that Stephanie happens to be a woman is just icing ...

I agree. Two main differences between Hung and Lisa. Hung knew he was a tool and owned it, plus he was a terrific cook throughout.

Lisa refused to acknowledge her bad personality and mediocrity in the kitchen.

I am happy for Stephanie as she is deserving of the Top Chef title. She has the right temperament, both in and out of the kitchen. However, I feel that the fan favorite and the $10,000 should have gone to someone other than the winner who is already receiving $100,000 and a trip to Europe. As for Richard, while he is a great chef with many original and innovative ideas, he was beginning to grate on me as the series wore on as someone with a sense of entitlement..."I'm the best chef and deserve to win". Also there was no need for him to bash Lisa - let his cooking do his speaking for him. If she was that bad then she'd sink herself..."Lisa doesn't belong in the finale"...then there was the bronze medal remark...you should have let it go, Richard, as it came back to bite you in the butt. When they were presenting the Culinary Boner tee-shirt to Andrew, they should have had another one for Lisa to present to Richard (even though he was absent) that read "You won the f--k--- bronze medal. Congratulations. There you go."
