| I've had a huge crush on Marcel since Day 1 - 'd kill to run my hands through that sexy red mane, and those blue eyes are totally mesmerizing. Aside from that, I like his style, and his confidence - those are some of the signs of a great chef in the making. |

| I really don't think he's all that bad. He's not nearly as annoying as Stephen from last season and he's nowhere close to as awful as Tiffany was. |

| For the haters, watch the show closely and try to tune out what the other chefs are saying about him. What they say about Marcel doesn't match what he's shown doing. This is really noticeable in the bonus footage on the Bravo site where you can see him in action without being bombarded with anti-Marcel propaganda from the other chefs. Most of the others are either delusional (Betty) or hypocritical (Illan) when they criticize him. For instance, Betty complained that Marcel had a snooty attitude about comfort food even though he appeared to be genuinely excited about his mashed potatoes and onion rings during the TGIF challenge. Then there's Illan. He's one of Marcel's biggest detractors. He once complained that Marcel had a bad attitude. But in the first episode when Marcel introduced himself, Illan made a snide comment under his breath that got bleeped by the censors. Illan was on the Marcel hate train before Marcel even had time to do anything wrong. We also keep hearing that Marcel is selfish, but we haven't been shown any clearcut examples of this. Funny thing is, I could think of worse behavior from some of the others. Like when Cliff, after winning immunity, got drunk with Frank and Illan and sat around goofing off when they were supposed to be planning the menu. Or the bonus footage where Elia asks a clerk to help her find vanilla beans during a timed shopping spree. The clerk finds a jar and tries to pass them to Elia, but Illan snatches the jar away from the clerk and makes off with them without even offering to share. In his interview Illan shrugs it off saying, "It's a competition." Wasn't Marcel villified for having that kind of cutthroat attitude -- even though he really doesn't? I'm starting to think the front runners are the biggest jerks on the show, but they've been given a favorable edit because the show would be unwatchable if we had to see the biggest douches win week after week. |

Welcome to FORT Cherry - love your avatar! Marcel is not sexy to me. His voice is to high pitched for my ears. At least, however, he is trying to cook above and beyond the others.

| I think Marcel has a lot of good ideas for dishes but lacks the experience to execute these dishes to their full potential. Marcel needs more seasoning (pun intended). Much of what has earned Marcel the emnity of his fellow chefs may have been edited out or not even caught on film, Remember Tiffani did a lot of bad stuff that was never recorded on film or shown to us the viewers. |

- lol!!! I'm sorry, I just can't help it. I L.O.V.E. me some Marcel V. It urks me that he's been vilified unjustly. So what if he comes off as cocky and arrogant. Most of them are. And Betty? Ugggh...she's just as cocky, just as arrogant and, as an added bonus, she is psycho! The way she goes off on Marcel is just inexcusable. The part of me that didn't fall asleep in Psych 101 says she wants intimacy with Marcel, but fears rejection because she's so old and hideous, so she turns that fear into hate and annoyance. I've never attended any institution of culinary arts, but from what I've observed, it's really tough and competitive. So, to graduate and be successful probably merits the attitude. At any rate....Yaaay, Marcel!

They have a camera crew following them around 24/7, but the production staff is baffled by the hatred he gets because they haven't seen him do anything to justify it. They're not leaving footage of his bad behavior on the cutting room floor, because there is no footage. There've been multiple instances were Marcel's behavior was the exact opposite of how it's described by the other chefs. With all the lying and backstabbing that's gone on this season, I trust them about as far as I could throw them (under a bus). Just because they say he's this way or that way in the interview doesn't mean it's true. For example, Mia's criticism of Marcel over breakfast seemed to have no basis in reality whatsoever.

| If it is the same as season one of Top Chef, they do not have a camera crew following the chefs around 24/7. This was mentioned by Lee Anne in one of her now-deleted blogs when she was describing how some of the stunts pulled by Tiffani were never recorded because most of the crap she pulled was in-house where filming was sporadic. Dave Martin also mentioned this in one of his later blogs. |

So far this season there's been at least two instances when the cameras where there to see them wake up and stayed until they went to bed, so it seems like there's little or no time when they're not in front of a camera.

| The rules for the competition apply when the chefs are doing the quickfire and elimination challenges, whereas the chefs are very much on their own when not competing. What we the viewers see in-house are snapshots. For instance in TC1 we had a video of Stephen in his boxer shorts, Miguel using Palmolive detergent in the dishwasher, Lee Anne braiding Candice's hair, Harold sick in bed. But as was said by Lee Anne and Dave, the cameramen did not spend a lot of time in-house. Another thought about the rules: the producers may formulate the rules, but the judges interpret and enforce them. The judges were not allowed in the chefs living qtrs. as Colicchio found out when he tried to share pizza with the chefs. |
