I thought this was an absolutely stupid challenge. No one makes dessert out of these ingredients and puts them all together. Give them a challenge that's real please. I hate gimmicks like these. Too many of these and I'll quit watching.
I like the challenge for the same reason I like it on Project Runway when they do a challenge buying materials from a pet store or grocery store. A challenge like this divides the contestants who simply bake well from the ones who really understand the science of pastry. The chefs who really understand what oil, or eggs, or flour does in a recipe, than he or she can use that sort of knowledge to add an unusual ingredient and know what to leave out, or what to do to balance everything out. On the other hand, the contestants who just do what they're told and don't understand why will fall apart. Actually, I like challenges like this one better than the ones where the real challenge is an impossible time frame.
This is the first challenge I found interesting. I don't eat a lot of sweets so I use FF liberally during this show. When I see the judges taste everything I cringe at how nauseating it must be to eat that much sugar in one sitting, even considerting they are only taking one or two bites each time.
