Their humor is VERY different. I generally have a difficult time "getting it". For example, I have never seen the humor in Monty Python...

On the other hand the two British women who do the original BBC version of "What Not to Wear" are HILARIOUS. Maybe the difference is that their humor is all in their banter with one another; I don't necessarily think they are trying to be funny...

BTW, I apologize for my previous message being rather harsh. I went back & edited it.

Never mind. It won't let me edit it.

Most of it is just TOO MUCH and I can only appreciate it in small doses, but I did love The Holy Grail.

Mark was only trying to laugh in response to their laughter of disbelief and shock that he would say such a thing. Any remarks he followed up with were a cover after he had a chance to realize that he was way out of line. Short of making him take a lie detector test or have him interrogated under truth serum, we are unlikely to ever get a story from him that would be accepted by all.

hutchlover, if that was your "harsh", I'll never mind disagreeing with you. Fort monitors are great for knowing when to pull on our leashes.

So we can agree that we disagree?

After noticing how often Mark tastes his food and then put his spoon back after it had been in his mouth, makes me wonder how often it occurs in restaurants that I frequent. I can't get it out of my mind. Isn't there a law against that practice? I guess it would be hard to monitor, but I can't believe it wasn't edited out, or you would think the judges would make a bigger deal out of it.

Also, I am sorry if this topic has been addressed before, but I really really can't STAND Padma! She sounds like she is slurring her words, or narrating a soft porn movie. It's like she can't articulate her words properly. At least her outfits are more appropriate than when she first came on as host. One of my pet peeves in life is people with bad table manners. She has the worst table manners, the way she smacks her food while chewing. It's gotten to the point where I "mute" Padma when she is on. I hate having to do that to a show I enjoy watching.

Gail Simmons has great credentials, but does she have to open her mouth so wide when putting her utensil in her mouth. It's like baby birds when their mothers are feeding them. Open wide!
If only Padma, Paula Abdul, Mary (screaming lady on So, You Think You Can Dance), Kimora Lee Simmons and Tyra Banks were gone from the television forever, I would be a happy camper!

I apologize to all you Padma lovers but I had to vent.

Of course she's slurring her words!

She's either drunk or high .

Padma - I think she is/was a supermodel and thinks she has a sexy image to uphold. She probably gets a lot of "You are so beautiful/hot/sexy..." fan mail that she (mistakenly) thinks that's what we all think and want to see. Also English is probably a 2nd or 3rd language for her. I generally roll my eyes and try to see her as a foodie to justify her place on the show. MY biggest gripe with her is that she is so slim, but eats like a horse.

You will notice that while Tom summarizes the problems with the bottom dishes; her soft voice kicks them to the curb. I guess they think that will soften the blow. When Lisa is finally and joyfully kicked off to much fanfare, I suggest the head of security give her the news while armed with a tazer.

Once I saw a question/answer show where an interviewer addressed questions sent in by viewers to the judges and some past/present(?) chefs. One of the comments was about Padma's sleazy clothes. They responded that Gail wears much more suggestive clothes, but I guess Padma got the hint. Know your audience. I always thought Gail dressed like a frump. A frump with terrible taste.

Do you remember what Padma wore to the challenge on the beach? I think it was the season that Mikey was on. A bikini top! It looked about 45 degrees out that day! I read an interview where Padma said how much she hated reality tv. Well, I guess if its keeping her in her sleezy outfits, she's ok with it! I love Top Chef but I hate that I have to mute Padma, cuz her voice is like fingernails on a chalk board to me, same with Paula. They must hang out and exchange prescriptions! Now, now.....I know that was bad....but what the heck????? These woman get paid very well, if they can't hang, they need to drop out and give someone who is more capable an opportunity (like me).
    I'm Soooooooo Kidding!!!!!

See I don't think Padma's as bad as Paula. At least Padma admits she likes the booze (at least two challenges last season), and has fun with it. Paula denies she takes anything! And Padma will tell a cheftestant that she didn't like their food, all the time, even if cushioning it (i.e. she "detested" Stephanie's couscous, but told her directly she didn't care for it). Paula rarely says anything negative.
