I don't care for Casey either. She has done really well in the last few challenges but in tonight's episode, her dish seemed to get the least favorable reviews yet she is still in the finals![]()

I like all 3 of the finalists and they deserve to be there. Much better than Marcel and Ilan as Phonegrrrl mentioned above. I want Hung or Casey to win.
The producers gave Hung a good edit tonight. His talking about his family, and explaining that he is a team player-in his own kitchen.
I very much believe in rescuing animals, not buying them.

Hung was talking about being a team player. But it's one thing to talk about it and another to do it. Actions speak louder than words. I think if he truly was a team player, he wouldn't have cleaned his station or lounged around while other chefs were still running around like crazy - competition or not. I think his actions last night screamed what he's really like.
I'm warming to Hung. The mistake he made was in "telling" all of us his strategy in the confessionals. If he can survive in a family owned Asian restaurant, he does know teamwork and sacrifice.
The thing that bothers me about Casey is that she never reacts that much to winning or losing. When she wins a challenge, she does the "thank you, chef" thing and barely smiles as if she's thinking "of course mine's the best you idiot." Perhaps that's part of her strategy in "surviving all the BS" as she indicated in her final four interview last week.
I'd like Dale in my kitchen. I think what we're seeing on TV is likely what we might see in his kitchen. Will he win? Probably not, but getting this far will re-launch his career for sure.
My big issue with Hung is that he is almost always completely disrespectful of others cooking. Sure, he tossed in one or two "we are all professionals" type comments, but he constantly has an attitude about dishes which beat his in a challenge. i.e. - "I tasted X's dish and mine was better!"Originally Posted by Aceon6;2588709;
Conversely I like that about her. I don't see it as "of course mine's the best you idiot", to me it just comes off as her being dignified and focused.The thing that bothers me about Casey is that she never reacts that much to winning or losing. Now to another issue raised tonight... why did we hear all those negative Casey comments, and yet Brian went?
I think it was a combination of three things.
First, I think the show was specifically edited to make it less obvious that Brian was going. Casey probably actually had the second largest amount of negative comments, but Brian's were scaled back enough to make her seem like the obvious bootee.
Second, I think that no matter what they say overall about judging one challenge at a time, near the end the judges (minus the guest judge) DO use their cumulative knowledge of the Chefs. We even saw it onscreen a bit in the comment from Tom about Hung "never putting himself into his dishes". That's inherently a comment and a judging standard about more than the current dish. Casey, judged against the whole season performed about ten times better than Brian, so if it was really down to just those two, that definitely affected things. Three of the four judges said to themselves... "sure, Casey cooked this rarer than I liked, but this was a fluke", whereas they may have said with Brian "sure, this was better than most of what we've seen from him, but... hey, this was better than most of what we've seen from him."
Third, Eric Ripert--the one without season-long biases liked Casey's dish and hated Brian's. So for HIM at least, Casey was definitively better than Brian. His vote may have had more weight specifically because it WASN'T biased from previous shows, and as it turned out his judgment just about this week matched the other judges long-term biases anyway.

This is a competition. Why would Hung help someone else win?
I don't have a problem with someone not helping their competition. I just have a problem when someone talks about how he's such a team player, and then doesn't help someone. If he doesn't want to help his competition, that's fine. But then don't try to tell everyone what a great team player you are. I just think (and can't put it into words very well), that if someone is a team player, that's not something you can turn on and off. Either you help others or you don't - even if it is a competition.Originally Posted by DeeGee;2588767;
Krom, your comments were spot on.![]()
The guest judge tipped the scales for Casey because he loved her butter sauce. I believe the other judges like it, too.

I can't think when I have to think. ~~moi~~
I wish Casey were as eloquent and funny as Dale. I loved it when he refered to the Chefs in the previous challenge as Jesus' apostles of culinary arts or something like that. The way they were lined up on that window made that reference just spot on. I also liked what he had to say about why he should be in the finale. He has more soul than anybody else in that show.
And speaking of soul, Hung just lied thorugh his teeth talking about how he is all about soul in his food. All we have heard from him is how his technical skills are so much better than all the other chefs. Maybe the editing has been done so it makes his not winning at the end more logical, but as people always say, you cannot make people say something they didn't. His constant emphasis on his technical skills has been the theme of all his comments thorughout the season. I think deep down he is insecure, and that's why he is always building himself up so much.
Casey is going to win. Showing her falling appart in the previews just confirms it.
Oh, and Eric Ripert is a hootie! Also seems to be a rather nice person. Hung should take notes since he admires him so much.
