Fun fact: I've actually been to the Magic Castle.

I liked that all of the chefs had different personalities & approaches to cooking & that none of them seemed to be raging egomaniacs. And that Anita, in her quiet, competent way, owned the competition. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next.

I've absolutely loved Top Chef Masters. I don't see the egos I expected. Everyone seems genuine and quite pleasant. I fell wonderfully in love with Hubert Keller and the dorm challenge. What a delightful man!

While he sometimes irks me on his own show Mexico One Plate at a Time, Rick Bayless was charming on his episode.

And Gael Greene isn't the monster people assume she is. I love her flair for fashion!

I miss Tom C as a judge though

Well, I think Ludo can probably qualify for a raging ego. However, he really IS a great chef. Unlike say - Blaise, Lisa, Tiffany, Ilan, Marcel, Hung, Stefan. Though Hung & Stefan are probably the closest thing to a "master" chef regular TC has ever had.

Me too! I finally watched this episode tonight on hulu, and it was great to see him lose. I've been to one of his restaurants in New Orleans, and it was, hands-down, the worst steak I'd ever had at a so-called high-end restaurant.

I like Anita. She's not great tv, but I watch Top Chef Masters more for the dishes they prepare than for the personalities, and she delivered.

    Love NPH!
Will look forward to next week with Chiarello, too. Every episode has at least one chef I'm familiar with and a couple new ones to experience.

Overall, despite the lame hostess, I am loving this version of Top Chef. The contestants truly are masterful compared to the regular version's. Note all the fancy stuff they did with their eggs vs. just an omelette on the regular show.

The oven didn't cook yet again. I wonder if this is good advertising for GE...

At least the producers should warm up the ovens to 350 just in case.

Same with the freezers, seems those don't work all the time either.

Hubby said the same thing. GE needs to monitor their advertising dollar more closely. Top Chef seems to be honoring the letter of (what we assume is) the contract but not the intention, lol.
