    Less is More
The remaining chefs are asked to create "amuse-bouches" for their Quickfire Challenge. "Amuse-bouches" are tiny appetizers served before the real appetizer and are supposed to get the taste buds ready for the upcoming meal. Fancy schmancy! Later, the chefs visit a weight-loss camp, and one more unlucky foodie is sent packing.

The only reasons I know is that: 1. One of my best friends used to be a chef, and 2. I've gone to several wine tasting events.

Alie how long did it take your friend to be a chef? Did they get a degree or a certificate or what?

My niece is talking about going to a culinary school instead of a traditional college.

I want her to learn how to make amuse-brouches...and not pigs in a blanket!

I'll ask her about the details once she gets back from New Orleans (she is in a different profession now). (She hated the long hours and low pay .. but man, can she cook!)

Ok. thanks. You can not depend on what the schools says...the marketing is sooo intense to get you in and pay tuition.

That is what I thought...long hours on your feet and low pay. Otherwise, why would all these executive pastry chefs, line cooks, and others come on this show?

THey are obviously not making mega bucks.

Not until they become TOP CHEFS!

Anyone interested in more about amouse-bouche should check out Rick Tramonto's amazing book. I'm honestly shocked whenever I go into a fine dining restaurant and I'm not served a little teaser. I think over the next few years, we'll see this featured in a lot more restaurants, even to the point we might start seeing it in more mainstream establishments.
