    Top Chef: Just Desserts

    Very Exciting!

Bravo's Top Chef Spins Off Into Just Desserts - omg! news on Yahoo!

Top Chef is spinning off into a sweet new series: Top Chef: Just Desserts.

The new culinary competition show will pit pastry chefs against one another in a series of challenges while living together just as in its Emmy-winning predecessor.

Neither the judges nor host have been chosen.

News of the pickup comes less than a week after Bravo announced the return of Top Chef Masters, which centers on celebrity chefs in a tournament-style competition.

The dessert-driven series, which will be produced by Magical Elves (Top Chef, Project Runway, Top Design), began nationwide casting calls Monday. (Click here for additional casting information.)

This sounds great! I love the pastry challenges on food network and this will be just like them but super charged.

Will have to keep an eye out for air dates.

I don't know -- this may officially be "too much of a good thing". Why does every good concept have to be beaten into the ground?

Hopefully they will be able to make it just as interesting as the other shows -- somehow I don't think that desserts have the same urgency as Restaurant Wars.

I was thinking it would take the "stress" off the regular Top Chef contestants to make dessert at all. It could open a lot of doors for pastry cheffs too. It did for Marissa.

I like the Food Network Challenges and think this could be a good addition to the Top Chef Roster.

I hope this is nothing like the Food Network Challenges. Those are fun to watch but I hope Top Chef: Top Desserts is about edible (but artful, beautiful) desserts, not 5' high cakes with motors and fireworks.

Glad Gail Simmons will be hosting - I think she's very likeable!
