Top Chef California - Last Chance Kitchen (BravoTV.com)

Last Chance Kitchen is back, at Bravo's website, and hopefully available on demand on most TV systems.

Unlike last season, they aren't waiting to start LCK and are using it all season long.

BTW I'm adding something to the banner this year: I'm including the current LCK champion among the faded/eliminated chefs.

Garret beat Renee in the first round, but that was no shock. When she was eliminated from the show she basically said these kinds of timed competitions aren't for her, so I doubt she was counting on going very far in LCK.

Ugh, Garret is still champ. I really wanted Frances to keep going for a while. Broccoli was the easy/safe route, and it didn't pay off.

Renee's a little pistol when she's sitting there watching everything.

It was Garrett's deep fried turnip skins that won Tom over. He took that extra step to lessen his trash count.

Yeah, everyone can use everything with broccoli, but turnips?

I love turnips! But yeah, hard to handle!

I go to an Irish restaurant that serves turnips as sides....so good. It's also it's part of my Scandinavian heritage, my Grandmother called it 'rootmoose'.

Garrett dethroned, Grayson flirts up a storm with Tom.

Actually Garrett used beets. It was fairly impressive from a "use all parts" challenge. More difficult than broccoli, which is why I think he won.

Words are my downfall, lately, though I did score high on the memory test. Go figure. And yes, it was because he used the whole vegetable. Vegetable, right, not fruit?

Still have to update the banner tonight, but I will say that I'm glad Grayson is still in the running.

It was weird how much Giselle was glad too, even though it meant she was done.

This was a really funny LCK -- Tom was really riding their behinds and they were squaking back like decapitated chickens.

Grayson reminds me of a lot of girls I knew going to Catholic school as a kid.
