I usually just check the LCK results here instead of watching, but reading the comments I think I will have to watch this one!

Jason's on a "four on a roll." Sad for Karen, but the Japanese table side grill was a lot of fun to watch.

Now, if Phillip's face could leave the stool sitters, it would be a whole lot better for viewing.

That WAS fun -- do all chefs go through part of a semester learning how to be tableside Benihana chefs in culinary school?

Phillip needs to learn some humility and how to actually listen, process and accept constructive criticism. I hope he isn't nearly the tool he appeared to be on this show.

I really liked Kwame, but Jason continues his winning streak.

I really like Kwame too and was assuming he'd be in the finals, but I'm kind of glad Jason won. He's gone so far, I'm kind of rooting for him and his lucky leggings.

I was wondering if Kwame buttering Tom up on his exit from judges table, and Tom's sincere reaction to it, would be enough to butter him up for a win!

Re: Top Chef California - Last Chance Kitchen (BravoTV.com)

There are two episodes this week -- one where Amar, Carl and Jason square off in a sourdough challenge (because TOAST), and then another where the top two from that challenge face each other in the LCK Finals -- the winner re-enters the competition with the current 3 remaining chefs.

It was sad to see Jason go in the first round, after lasting so long this season. He went out with class.

The final challenge was pretty intense -- cook a fish dish in 12 minutes. And Tom made Carl and Amar bid each other down from 20 minutes, like they used to do on Name That Tune ("I can name that tune in 5 notes"). It was funny watching Tom try to get them to bid down when clearly they didn't want to, lol -- he practically did the bidding for them.

And of course, we won't know who won until next week's main episode. The only hint we have is that Tom said it came down to seasoning. And just before Tom started his speech, they showed Carl and Amar tasting each other's dishes, and Carl said he thought Amar's was a touch too salty. I can see that being misdirection by the editor, which makes me worry for Carl. But we'll see.
