12/7 Top Chef 15 Colorado - Premiere Show Discussion

It'll Take More Than Pot Luck - A diverse group of chefs enter the kitchen in Denver and are tasked with making a potluck dish to introduce themselves to the judges and their fellow competitors. For they elimination challenge, they each create dishes and serve from booths during a street fair.

    Enjoy the new season!

Is this the correct description? I don’t think this is the premiere show I just watched...

I just have to get this out of the way and say I have a serious pet peeve about how shows portray any contestant “from Alaska”. I include quotes because chef Laura is not from Alaska, she decided to settle in Alaska after college. And then when she decided to become a chef, she trained in Vermont and Paris. So they can stop portraying her as an Alaskan who has never been exposed to the “outside world”. She gets props for living in Alaska and owning a restaurant in a rural community, but they can draw the line at that point.

You were right, that was the description for another episode to come. I fixed it.

I like this group of chefs -- you can spot the early exits right away, and there aren't that many of them, so this should be a very good season. Plus we got Pakistani cuisine AND Soul/Amish fusion food in the very first episode!

I'm enjoying this very much! My favs so far this season are the Pakistani lady, the lady who made chicken wings, Soul-Amish guy, and the guy with the mustache. No one seems like a jerk, and all the food looks good.

I recognize Bruce but he doesn't look to be doing so well the first episode.

Love that this is from Denver...wish they had chosen Santa Fe, NM for it's crossroads cuisine of cowboy food, Native American food and Mexican food but Denver will do. I'm liking the variety of chefs and the ethnic food they are bringing to the competition. Wish Padma would come off her high horse...she still doesn't see that she's just eye candy.

My bruschetta is what people are going to want to eat, or should I make my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I cannot decide.

Glad it is back. Looks like a good season is coming.
