Not reading yet because I haven't finished watching.

So far it seems like Brooke is getting the winners edit. They keep focusing on how she came in second last time and her family. The edit alone is making me lean toward wanting Shirley to win.

On the other hand, I think Brooke picked better sous chefs.

"3 hour flan" sounds alarming. My flan (approx 8oz each) takes around 45-50 mins to get the perfect consistency!!!

Meh. I was rooting for Shirley, but not surprised Brooke won. She was clearly getting the edit. She was eliminated and came back, she's trying to do better than last time, she has a little kid she wants to be proud of her, she started out strong then faltered and has to make a comeback even within the final show, etc.

As a side note, Graham said exactly what I was thinking about Brooke's flan. Overcooked flan is eggy, not creamy. Not good.

Shirley looked really pretty last night on WWHL. Her hair was beautiful. Brooke, on the other hand, with her braids and pigtails, looked like a Swiss milkmaid (and I like Brooke. Just sayin', though...) Sheldon as bartender looked like he was having a lot of fun, and he was fan favorite!

Brooke knew she was going to have trouble with the flan when she checked on it and it wasn't set. She feared it would have to cook too long in order to be done. When her mom whispered "the flan" to her, I thought she was going to cry.

Up until dessert, I thought Brooke had the edit, but the raves over Shirley's dessert put doubt in my mind as a good edit is supposed to.

    Congratulations, Brooke!

Re: 3/2 Top Chef 14 FINALE Show Discussion *West Coast Spoilers*

The episode had an odd edit -- Shirley was so bubbly and happy to be in the finals and so glad to see her family, and Brooke was so subdued and seemed to be slow out of the gate with ideas, and was also acting annoyed at Shirley's talkative enthusiasm in the kitchen -- by halfway in, I was totally Team Shirley. So when Shirley's first two courses tanked, I was sad for her. It's like they went overboard to paint Brooke as not being in charge at the start just to give the finale some suspense. But I'm okay with Brooke winning. They just made it a little less joyful to watch than it could have been for me.

I liked watching this season, the finalists were top notch.
The final dishes made me quite squeamish though.
This season had lots of octopus. Ew.
Shirley chose piglets for a final dish.
    Brooke chose pork bellies.
    Double Ew.
When one of the chefs touted that their dish had a perfect gelatinous consistency, I nearly lost it.

Yeah, gelatinous is not a word that I would want to have my main course described as.
It looked to me like Brooke won round 1 and 2, they tied for round 3, and Shirley won round 4.

Before we begin, what are the parameters of the guessing game? How many guesses do I get? Is there a time limit?
