Too many people to start. I don't remember, do we have this many each season?

I think Shrimp Complicated girl will be the first boot. I think owning your mistakes and understanding them will get you further this season. She failed that.

I was definitely wrong. Ah well.

Jen Z goes home! How surprising, I thought Eve was gone for sure.

BTW, there's a new thread open for the Top Chef Masters finale.

Me too. I thought Eve was going because her explanation was complicated & made no sense and her personality was bleh. Jessie & Hector knew what their mistakes were, so it was obvious they were safe.

Glad Kevin won. His dish was beautiful and his explanation very neat.

I'm watching the episode a second time through, and there are some things that stand out to me.

I'm disappointed that the ceviche won the Quick Fire. While it may have tasted great, it was too safe of a dish to prepare, especially since (a) this was the first QF and (b) picking a safe prep as a winner on the first QF doesn't set good precedent.
Mike I. is either playing the ageist/misogynist or he is one. Either way, I want him off my tv faster than I want a cockroach crawling across my kitchen counter dead.
I am going to have a hard time telling the brothers apart.

Jesse's lip ring totally bugs me...it's soooo 1993.
I'd love to split a couple of bottles of wine with Wolfgang Puck. I bet he'd spill the beans on some great Hollywood stories, while tossing food at the waitstaff.
I can't believe I missed the clues that Jen Z. was getting the boot. Last season, the hardest-luck story (the lady with the husband deployed to Iraq) was booted first. The minute I saw those pics of her son, I should have known she was a goner. The Magical Elves have a pattern, after all.

In any event, I am sooo glad Top Chef is back. While I liked Top Chef Masters, it was just a bit too nice.

In a word, yes. Trust me

Indeed. He catered so many Academy Award Governor's Balls, he could probably ruin any number of careers by writing one juicy book. We'll find him, and I'll help you keep him liquored up.

BTW, do you feel that, between the two of us, we wrote 80% of the recap in here?

I think she won because of her Eric Ripert connection.

I was spoiled by the niceness of the TCM Chefs and now we return to reality. I may not be able to watch if drama ensues like usual.
