Why can't they have a cooking competition of regular cooks, who are stellar, but not necessarity professionally trained? Does anyone else think that might be interesting? "Professional cooks/chefs need not apply!"

Maybe there's a competition out there like that, and I'm just the last one to know about it?

I'd like to know about it too if it exists... if not... somebody make one.
So... would it be pro chefs, but not schooled, like Sandee in season 3, or would it be Julia, the Waffle House cook, from Hell's Kitchen season 3?. That alone would give you a LOT of difference. Wonder if Julia ever went to culinary school.

    I say no chefs...cooks, only!

As a name, Top Cook doesn't have as much sex appeal as Top Chef.

Rachael Ray would have to qualify as the Top Cook as she is not classically trained. For her many admirers she has sex appeal.

Mine too... I first saw season 3, then season 2. Am currently watching season 1 and I must say, the standard of the chefs have improved by leaps and bounds. It'd be no fun if they didnt make this a more competitive thing because so many of the S3 chefs were so creative.

I cant wait for season 4 now... and yeah I found my way out of ANTM threads to the other forums here. Proud of myself lol.
