Did anybody catch the show last night? I just think these mothers are ruining their daughter's skin with all that heavy makeup. And another thing, these women paid over $6000 in costumes and such to win $500. That's just crazy. That one mother who kept drinking the "Red Bull" was nuts.

These were definitely some crazy mums, although I loved the mum (and family) of the sisters-it seemed like it was a real family act.

I totally agree with you. I worry about all the spray-on tan chemicals those little girls are exposed to. I don't believe it has been FDA approved, and it may prove to be perfectly harmless, but those chemicals are on all their exposed skin. I'm sure the little girls can't help but inhale some of it occasionally, as well as it going in their mouthes. It's probably just me, but I wouldn't want a child of mine exposed needlessly and routinely to chemicals for a fake tan.

That's why I prefer it when they do something natural, or they do a gradual tanner cream that yes, requires more work, but you don't inhale any fumes. I would love to see them at a Seattle pageant (and there are some-they're just fewer and further between) because they would be as natural as you get.

I liked them too. I liked the fact that the mom seemed pretty normal and she also looked good ( dad wasn't too bad either). What I mean is that so many of those mothers seem to only care about how their kids look and not themselves.

That one pageant dad who was not really into their daughter being in the pageant-he hit it spot-on about many of the pageant moms. It's not a nice or PC comment, so I won't repeat it, but it's true.

I'll sum this show up in 8 words

These mothers are living vicariously through their kids.

    Nuff said.

I was thinking the same thing.
As you guys watch these episodes, are you finding them not quite as shocking or disturbing as before? (I ask because I seem to be.) Not sure if it's because I'm becoming desensitized to the glitz, or if I'm watching it differently after considering the post upthread (tvaholic I think?) about how the glitziness helps level the playing field.
