I agree the "not compromising" can put a "real" Christian (not a moralizer, but someone who really tries to live kindly and with forgiveness) in a difficult position in this game. If she can hold off telling people what they "should" do (and how pro Palin she is) she may be ok. The Harley riding implies she has a bit of an unconventional side...and being a Hawaiian fitness instructor...given the Hawaiian gene pool/culture runs to overweight is impressive as well.
Have to say I'm also pro Oregonian and think having a Hawaiian on is cool...

Jeff said:One of his favourites, who JP says could win the game. A lot more to her than meets the eye, and definitely a huge threat if she gets late in the game.

I guess I don't get how being pro Palin is a downside??

Palin's a pretty polarizing figure, and from other players' biographies there are certainly some players there who will not be fans of hers. Always better to avoid politics, religion, etc., on Survivor.... I'd say the same if she were a huge Nader fan. Motherhood and apple pie are probably safe, although you never know!

If this is an example of being a Christian, it makes me want to switch religions. She is just mean and hateful. I am sure she would burn witches and anyone else at the stake and roast marshmallows in the flames.

I agree with you Bearcata, but as someone intending to go into the women's (cough) ministry, she's even more of an "example" than that. Maybe it's just a mean and hateful edit, so I'd like to know what the other contestants really think of her. And she was so willing to throw poor RH, son of a minister, under the bus - did she know by then that he had lied about it? LOL

Re: Laura Morett - Survivor Samoa

But how christian is she? We have seen bio's on survivor & BB before that claim things then never see that side of someone. I have never heard her say anything about religion exempt when her and Russell were talking. So she is hardly holding this big Christian "banner" up and throwing it in peoples faces.

We saw her talking to Natalie about religion (the fireside chat which upset Liz), which is probably how Russell picked up that it could be a weak spot for her. And we know she is entering the ministry, but only the women's ministry because she knows it would not be right for her to minister to guys. As a Galu member we haven't seen much of her so we don't know how vocal she has been on the whole, but she must have shared it with Natalie right away during her brief field trip to Foa Foa.

Hey, I had to check out this thread because I was like, "there's a Laura on this season? Who's she?" Oh yeah, they did show a few shots of her lately on the Russell Show! I'm surprised that you all seem to know things about her!

Re: Laura Morett - Survivor Samoa

Seems the only times I've seen her, she's been talking about religion.
I don't know if it's been edited that way, or if it's just because we've seen mostly Russell this season.
Whatever. I haven't liked what I have seen of either Laura or Monica. They both seem like they're straight out of Mean Girls 101. At least, in Monica's favor, I've not heard her go on about religion like Laura has.

Re: Laura Morett - Survivor Samoa

This is my first time reading her personal thread. I am not remotely surprised that she's a fervent christian and Palin-wannabe. Not at all.

I actually am quite impressed with Laura. She is bringing it more than I thought and she is smarter than I thought; the guys fear her because she seems to be an aggressive player. I like her and I like her arrogant cockiness as well.
