Our Interview with Osten Taylor

Osten, the first player ever to quit the game, was kind enough to answer some of our questions about his experience. Here's what he had to say:

You're the first Survivor ever to give up the game and quit. Were
things really that bad, or was it something you regret, looking back?

Yes my health was really that bad. No I don't regret my decision to leave!

You had an alliance with Andrew, and it seemed like if you hadn't wanted
to go this episode, he'd have kept you around. Why do you think that
was?

Andrew and I definitely had an alliance so that's why he would have kept me around!

What was your opinion of the Outcasts returning? Do you think it's fair
that someone who's been eliminated once has a chance to compete for the
million dollars?

My opinion of the Outcasts returning was that it was ridiculous. My reasoning is for the remaining 10 people left in the game all there hard work and efforts were in vain with the return of the Outcasts!

You competed in nearly every challenge directly against Rupert. What
were your feelings on having him join your tribe for a short time?

Having Rupert join our tribe for a few days was Heaven sent!

Early on, you made 2 critical decisions: to sell your clothes for money,
and then to leave for camp with quite a bit of money left over. Have
you thought about those decisions and how it affected your game play? Would
you do it different if you had the chance?

Yes I've definitely thought about those decisions and upon further review I would have played the game a bit differently. I guess hind sight is always twenty twenty!

Did you ever manage to fix your boxers so they weren't falling down
during challenges?

Yes I managed to fix my boxers.

What was your plan for the alcohol and CD's that you brought on deck at
the beginning of the game?

My plan with the alcohol was to use it as a social lubricant and I brought the CD's to read the lyrics of my favorite songs!

What were your reasons for not wanting to move the shelter, which was
almost being flooded with high tides?

My reasons for not wanting to move the shelter was it wasn't imperative to make the move right then. Also I felt that we were expending to much energy on our shelter instead of conserving that energy and using it for the challenges!

Jeff was pretty harsh when you left the game. Did he talk to you at all
about the situation after that?

No

Your bio says that you were eating 4,000 calories per day prior to going
on Survivor. Did you prepare for the starvation by including some
fattening foods in your diet?

Yes

Thanks, Osten (and of course, CBS) for taking the time to answer our questions. Good luck with everything!

Nice of him to answer the questions. Great job John!

I still can't believe he doesn't regret quitting the game.

Good job scoring the interview, John. I know you don't actually talk to the contestants but send the questions. What I find curious is that he ended all his answers with an !

Anyway, you're the best John and thanks to Osten for answering the questions.

I noticed that, too, Greenie. He punctuates like a comic book superhero. Wam! Bappo! I don't regret quitting!

Anyway, glad to hear from Osten. Thanks for answering the questions.

John, thanks for the interview!

I would say thanks to Osten for answering the questions....but I wouldnt give him points as an essayist. Yes. no. I fixed my boxers. Osten came on Survivor seeking fame....he will be remembered infamously.

Maybe he regrets quitting and doesn't want to look even worse for regretting. Who knows?

Nice to hear from him though. I hope there's one coming from Shawn. And what about Trish and Michelle?

What a wealth of information was gleaned from that interview! (not) Oh well, it was still nice to hear from him! Thanks for the interview, John! Paulie, you're hilarious!

P.S. I don't have to go to college now, everybody! I learned how to write Osten-style! Must end everything with exclamation points!

Wow. He is certainly not a verbose person.

But Im still eagerly awaiting the missing interviews (Michelle and Trish (and now Sean))! Are those forever lost in Limbo? Do I need to twist some arms over at CBS?
