I enjoy watching the dumb and the restless being manipulated by Russell. I never understand why the people who are clueless come on reality shows that require smarts or cunning?

Not quite the same thing as "owning an oil company" IMO.

I agree. I am also starting to fear though that the reason we know nothing about the other tribe (besides more than I will ever need to know about Yasmin) is that maybe it is all pretty boring stuff. Maybe our only chance at an entertaining season lies with Russell. Not saying it is that way, but am saying it sure is starting to feel like it.

It isn't exactly their choice to come on, they have to be selected, from a very large pool of applicants. The show has personality profiles it tries to fill, especially Type A's who don't have any self control.

It is however the choice of the applicant to audition for the show to be chosen. It's a show about outwitting,outlasting and not about the dimwitted. The Dumb and The restless show up to be taken out and worked over like speed bumps on the road to $1 Million dollars.

Some of these people shouldn't be left home alone much less around people with functioning brains and cunning.

If nothing else, Russell has generated quite a bit of conversation. Like him, love him or hate him... you're talking about him.

In contrast to some of the other villains of the past, Russell has told us (the viewers) exactly where he's coming from, what he's doing and why. This allows for no opportunity to misunderstand/misinterpret him... so... it's not like we like/love the guy early on (or even have no opinion either way) and then later find out he's dastardly.

Survivor is a game. Outwit, Outlast, Outplay.

Hey MsDiva I was hoping I would run into you over here. I have to admit I am loving Russell right along with you. He just cracks me up at some of the things he says and does. Unlike Natalie (from BB) I don't think he is like that in the real world. He went in with a plan and so far it's working for him. Will he get to the end, very doubtful, but he does make the show interesting to watch. His Katrina story just cracked me up when he admitted it was all a lie, especially about the dog. I have to admit I fell for it! lol Can't wait to see what he's up to next.

I posted at another place a few years back a copy of survivors casting plan. It out lined their cast ideas. Wish I could fined it.

1 blonde girl
1 black player
1 alpha male
ect..........................

All they do each season is plug players into the modes.

I find the rampant hatred for him somewhat ridiculous.

I like him because he's one of the few people on this show that seem aware that they are playing a game. Sometimes when I watch I get the feeling that everyone else is into making friends and playing nice. That always comes back to bite them. He's just playing the game.
