Survivor 1 Sue Hawk question

Mods: I don't know if this is in the right area. But I figured Survivor fans of the first one would more likely be at this forum so move it if you want. Also looked in the Survivor archives but didnt see anything.

My question. In the first Survivor, Kelly and Sue were pretty good friends. Then for some reason Sue turned on Kelly. I never figured out why or what happened. Does anyone remember? Please help! This bugs me everytime I see old clips of Sue turning on Kelly at the finale.

It was the final four - Rich, Kelly, Rudy and Sue. Kelly had immunity. The voting went down like this....

Rich voted Sue
Kelly voted Rich
Rudy voted Sue
Sue voted Rich

A tie! So they voted again and Kelly switched her vote to Sue, thus sending Sue home. And so the most famous speech during the final tribal council was born!!

Sue was also cranky with Kelly for playing both sides. She felt betrayed because she thought of Kelly as a close friend and confidante. And she may have been exactly that, but she was also a competitor, and Sue lost sight of that fact.

Yes, you're right about the way the voting went at the TC, but it wasn't the original reason for the rift between the two of them. The poster before me nailed it down pretty well. The fallout between the two of them happened BEFORE the TC. I distinctly remember the two of them having it out on the beach with each other. Sue just confronted Kelly over her loyalty, and went off on her. I think Kelly was stunned realizing it was a came that she wanted to win as well, but Sue took it and blew it way out of context....something she made a habit of doing during her stay on the Island. Had Sue not gone off on Kelly like that I don't think Kelly would have been moved to change her vote after the tie at TC. Kelly more than likely would have kept her vote, Rich would have been voted off, and the game would have turned out differently. If you ask me....it was Sue who sealed her own fate, but Kelly became the scapegoat. I knew Richard was the winner BEFORE Survior even added it's first historic episode due to an unrelated article on Richard in a New England paper. It stated that he had recently won 1 million dollars etc. Someone blew it big time there. I originally read the article on the web.....went back to print it out later in the day to prove to some coworkers that he would win etc, but the article was convieniently pulled. I should have bet a bundle on it....damn. LOL! Anyway.....even though I knew Richard was going to win, after the final four I really wanted Kelly to walk away with the money.....but that's just my view and opinion on the topic.

Thanks to everyone who responded. That sounds like the Sue I remember. I too wanted Kelly to win. I wonder what set Sue off in the first place about the loyalty issue? Did Rich have his evil hand in there somewhere?

Like Gervase said at the final TC, Sue was a sore loser..period.. On more than one occasion, prior to her alleged betrayal, she said she was gonna vote Kelly off, but Kelly kept winning the IC's. Sue got beat at her own game and she could'nt hanlde it. So, 3 years later its still good ridddance to her.

Thanks for adding more of the history between Kelly and Sue guys! I remembered it, but didn't want to get any of the details wrong in my post.
