OK, sorry, thought I was just disagreeing, not correcting. Obviously we all have different opinions. Be interesting to see if those who like the athletics side are better athletes themselves. Though I have to say I did love to see Ozzy in the physical competitions....unbelievable.

A poll on atheletics vs. social side that would be further broken down by voter characteristics (atheletic vs. couch potato) would be telling (but probably not surprising), as far as FORT Survivor fans would go.

Ultimately, I want both. I think the perfect season would have all the contestants be physically competent and also have good strategic skills. The lying is well within the rules, and has been a part of the game since the beginning, so I don't have a problem with it. They should all be expecting it by now (if not, they are fools and shouldn't be cast), and should plan for it like another obstacle to get through.

Yes, we (social) couch potatoes do like to fantasize that we'd have a chance! Cirie gives us hope. Though I do think she was helpful in camp this time, had acquired a few skills like firemaking, and although a little chubby (not a bad thing in Survivor) wasn't in terrible shape. Adequate, but not a skilled athlete like many of the others.

Seeing Cirie almost inspired me to try out for the show. Almost. But I'm content being a couch potatoe armchair observer. I'm with you that I like to see a more strategic side to the game vs athletic. I put more into outwit than I do the guy/girl who gets lucky and wins all the challenges, but I do think that should count for something.

Winning all the challenges takes more than "luck" and should count "for more than something". Otherwise why have them? Besides, recent winners haven't been voted for by jury members based on how well they did in the challenges. I'd like the final votes to be based on a more ballanced metric between the physical and social gameplay. We don't have that now. By lessening the physical aspects of the game, including the challenges and the living conditions, you end up with a show that is already on: Big Brother. I guess I can dream of the day when they create a spin off and put it on ESPN. Then this show can eliminate the physical difficulties and just put the contestants in a house. Whisper to someone, lie to someone else, and now vote.

Re: 5/11 Finale Discussion Thread **Spoilers**

I think they cast Survivor to include both physical strength/dominance and mental/strategic strength/dominance - and I'm glad they do. Would I want to see an entire cast of Joels trying to outmuscle each other and win everything on brute strength? NO. Would I like to see an entire cast of Ozzys, all of them dominant in challenges? No ... well, ok, maybe just a little . Would I like to see an entire cast of out of shape, older, backstabbing and lying and manipulating people? No, of course not. I do however like to see a good mix of all of the above, along with the sweet girl / lunch mom / you name it. The outwit part is just as important as the outplay part, and ultimately it's the outlast part that is the most important. So, who sat in the third seat? Cirie. Where was Joel? Top row at the reunion I believe Right beside Penner, but that's not Penner's fault.

I'm not trying to say anyone else's opinion isn't valid, I'm just saying that I am happy this time to see 3 ladies take the top three spots, and see them blindside and outwit all those men. There's a reason Jeff P said it was said to be one of the best Survivor's since the beginning, it's because of all the deviousness and blindsides. It was a blast, you never knew what was coming next! I hope the next one is just as good.

PWS thanks for the info on next season. Back to Africa huh? Interesting...

And I agree with those who say Cirie gives me hope that I too could go on this show (well, I can't really since I'm a Canadian but still!) since I'm not a young fit athletic person, just a 40-something Mom who would have to use her brains rather than her muscles.

Cirie was chubby I guess we have different versions of what chubby is. I'd love to be as thin as Cirie. I must be gargantuan then! And she had lost a significant amount of weight since her first season during which I will agree that she was a little chubby.

I agree, we do....all kinds of studies showing that people from different backgrounds have different size preferences... and anyway, chubby can be pretty cute. Also, helps keep the wrinkles away as one ages!
Of this season's contestants I'd say Amanda was my ideal "in shape" but not skinny type. Eliza was of the too thin to start and only got worse category like Courtney. (I don't know how some of these women survive, literally. Luckily this season was one of the less starving ones.) But I know there were people who thought Courtney was hot. To each their own I guess!
One of my favorite essays was by a young Latina woman telling how when she was in high school in an Anglo part of town she'd feel fat, then she'd go to the Mexican part of her city and get wolf whistled to death.

I agree, Amanda had a great figure. By the end Natalie looked freaky, with those skinny legs and bony back and then those big boobs! She said in the Ponderosa video that she went into the game at 118 lbs and was about 100 lbs when she was voted out. Parvati was pretty skinny at the end, and Eliza looked perfectly gaunt to me. Crazy.

I think Cirie was thinner going in this time around. I guess people see her as "chubby" only in relation to the other women on the show.
