Winning challenges doesn't always mean a lot either. Sure it can help, but it's not a guarantee to winning the whole thing. Look at Ozzy, he was a challenge monster in both of his seasons but he didn't win either. Over the seasons, there have been a lot of good athletes, but they didn't all win. This isn't the Olympics, and being able to handle people is sometimes more important than challenges. Amanda is a good athlete, but the rest of her game is lacking.

I wanted her to win after Yau was voted out, as I really didn't like anyone else. I was hoping she would do better than she did in China, but she played a little bit worse IMO.
I understand what you are saying but see, I only agree partially.

Final Tribal is like a big exam you've been studying up for a good 39 days. IMO What leads up to it is very important because if you haven't even read your chapters how are you supposed to score?

I do agree that Amanda's problem is like that of a nervous kid who goes blank each time as soon as she sees the paper. She's also bad with the emotional aspect of the game in that she admits she almost always broke down around the end. Psychologically I see some co-dependance tendencies in her but thats getting in deep so I'll stick to her game points.

You are right, winning challenges isn't everything. As Cirie's said in her recent interview "its only a small percentage." In some ways I think maybe its even better to come off as a weakling than to prove yourself a contender.

The reason I like Amanda's game and feel like she'll get far each time is because she plays a perfect balance between the social and physical aspect.

Social because she never pisses people off: ie) The only person Sherea talked to at the Fei Long camp was Amanda, China. Because she is likeable and approachable people want to confide in her the very first day. As evidenced by her day-1 alliances both in China and Micronesia. Even though she excels at physical challenges, she makes it a point not to gloat. ie) Micronesia - Final 4 challenge even though you could tell that she was estatic. She has great instincts because both in China and in Micronesia she's correctly made observations that were right-on. ie) China, when the tribes were asked to pick two strongest members of the other tribe she correctly predicted that they'll have to do the same in return. Also-- had great instincts about taking Todd out at final 5. Too bad she didn't act on it. // Micronesia, the same episode Ozzy got booted she made an observation about how people might react to Ozzy having the idol. I don't know if she conciously makes alliances with people who will/may have bigger targets on their back or if thats another instinctual thing.

Her game in China was amazing. And all she had to do was own up to it. She had a better chance winning in China than she ever did in Micronesia. Not because everyone was really smart to the game rather because it was people who've already played and lost. They were coming back with a vengence and going to play their hardest. That kind of game is harder to predict and definitely harder to control.

See the recap of the finale! And I agree, way better w/o it. Not that make up can't help even a stunner like Amanda, but her finale make up was ridiculous. She looked like a doll, and that is NOT her good look.

I think it's her social game that hurts her. She's fine with people in her alliance, but we've heard from other contestants on both seasons that she doesn't really talk much to anyone else. That leads to problems unless the rest of her alliance is on the jury. If she played things better with everyone else she would've got all 8 votes.

She looked like something out of the 70s at the reunion.

Agree to disagree.

Amanda looks so much better without makeup and her hair styled. The grungy look is more her thing.

I think that's the case with all of them. I know that finale night they're all told what to wear and styled, but whoever does it needs to be fired.

Now we know what Carolyn's stylist from The Biggest Loser does when she's not working there (although I think Alison must have fired her--after the first week or two)!

Ozzy's blindside was a great move, but dang do I wish he stuck around longer. He and Amanda look so cute together I hope everything works out for them.

Also adding to the fact that many people think that Amanda (and others) looked better during the show than at the finale: we're so used to seeing them all dirty and scruffy in the jungle. That's how we see them for about... I don't know.... 3 months? And then all of a sudden, all of these people are shown at the reunion with make-up and nice clothes. It's just weird to see some of them like that.

Re: Amanda (China) - Micronesia

Seeing them cleaned up is not a shock. Seeing them cleaned up with the horrible hair and makeup they put on them in the finale is a shock. C'mon, Farrah hair for Amanda? It looked like the exact same hair they styled on Danni for the Gaut. finale. Looked horrible on her too. Whoever is in charge of hair and makeup for that show should be tarred and feathered

Jeff was quite a mess this time around. Though I can't imagine there is not 1 person in the man's life that doesn't have the guts to tell him to get a good dye job. His shoe polish black hair reminds me of the episode of Frasier where marty colors his hair black and it runs down his face and rubs off on the chair lol
