Does anyone know what the rules are for the jury? What are they allowed to see besides Tribal Council? I'm not sure I believe Alex would refer to Matt is a good player (physically strong, yes) at this point. Alex knows that Rob turned on him, but not that Matt initiated the same idea or that Matt has shown any sort of game play.

The biggest "Hall of Shame" moment was when the Rotu 4 voted against Neleh because she outplayed them. I have been very impressed with Deena and Alex' comments regarding Rob as they have talked about his superior game play, not his betrayal.
All very good points. I agree with you that Rob would probably win against heidi or jenna out of respect for his play. Both Brian and Richard won for the same reason, even getting votes from those they had backstabbed. And while it's true that Alex doesn't have much reason to respect Matt as a player now, I think if he makes the F2 people will realize: (1) although his elimination was talked about well, since forever, somehow each week someone else got voted off, and that (2) he was a key member of the alliance that changed the game at a crucial
moment. I also think he may go on an immunity run, a la Colby.

    Namaste.

Matthew might be better off not going on an Immunity run, although that didn't really hurt Brian down the stretch last season.
When you're ten years old and a car drives by and splashes a puddle of water all over you, it's hard to decide if you should go to school like that or try to go home and change and probably be late. So while he was trying to decide, I drove by and splashed him again. - Jack Handey

True, but who is left to compete with him, physically at least?

Rob? He's about as athletic as PeeWee Herman.

Butch? I love him but he is an older guy, and slower.

Heidi: she was great in the first challenge but now she's a human scarecrow. Maybe she'd win if the challenge was "Find the largest fake glands."

Jenna: no chance of winning unless the challenge is "Whining: An Art Form."

    Namaste.

I think if Matt were to make the final 2 he would get the respect votes. The guys know he was on the block for most of his time there.

Paulie, this line from the preview materials lends a lot of credit to your theory of Rob spilling it all to Matt in advance of Jenna going nuts:

Still stung by Rob's betrayal of the alliance, an enraged Jenna tells the entire tribe about Rob's secret plans, revealing his strategies to everyone. Will Jenna's revelations turn the tribe against Rob?

Suxie, I agree that Matt would certainly deserve respect votes if he makes it to F2 as it appears that he has shaken the cobwebs off his game manual and has decided to play! He is in a great position now, being the superior physical form in the game and with the emotional tension focused on Rob, Heidi, and Jenna.

Also, I don't think any of the others, besides Rob, deserve any more game play respect over Matt.

One more comment on Jenna: remember her surprise at being voted the one using her sexuality the most? If you look back at episode 1, she expressed how her strategy would have to change since her tribe was all women and she couldn't manipulate them with her feminine charms!

mfl - I think you're right about the attention not being on Matt but more on the tensions between the two girls and Rob. What amazes me is the proven fact each season that flying so under the radar gives you a great shot in this game. Butch and Christy are proving that. They aren't lazy, don't say much, don't win any challenges, and don't create conflict. If Matthew hooks up with them this week...that's your final three. Rob and the girls will hate eachother out of the game and alliance of three will go all the way. Just curious who a jury would give the vote to. People here seem to be so focused on a jury vote between Matt or Rob/Jenna...I think the real question is jury votes for Matt or the two radar jumpers. Thoughts?

I've got a question - do Survivor jury members voted off get to find out (before the game ends) what the final vote count against them was? Or who actually cast which votes?

I'm guessing no, because of something I saw Rob do a couple weeks ago. In the end, his vote helped turn the tables on a very surprised Deena. As she was walking away, I saw Rob sitting there with a shocked look on face, turning and staring at Deena. But why the surprise if he knew exactly what the outcome was going to be?

Now, if it's true that Deena didn't find out for sure who in her alliance turned against her until just a few weeks ago, then it seems like Rob was playing a pretty clever game right there at the end. While everyone else gave not much reaction, Rob seemed to be conveying the message of "Wowsers, I never saw that coming! What happened, boss?" to Deena - maybe trying to convince her that whoever else had stabbed her in the back, it sure wasn't him!

I dunno - maybe I'm reading too much into it. (or maybe it's already been noted and discussed to death on this forum. Pity the n00b.) And I'm definitely no fan of Rob (man, I hope he gets the heave-ho tonight), but I had to respect what looked like a pretty interesting final attempt to deceive the person he'd just backstabbed, who he'd really need to help him out on the jury.

The camera lies. The shots are not sequential, nor are they necessarily "reaction shots."

A great many things happen in the editing room, not the least of which is interspersing the action with appropriate close-ups of individuals that would enhance the drama.
