    From the official Survivor site.

Born in Tyler, Texas, and raised in Texarkana, Texas, Jake Billingsley received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry from Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas. He began his career as Assistant County Agricultural Agent back in Tyler. While there, he accepted a job as Agricultural Consultant for a Texas-based utilities company and worked his way up to Assistant Vice President. He eventually left the utilities business to pursue real estate. He worked for various firms in capacities ranging from Associate to Senior Vice President before deciding to open his own company specializing in commercial real estate.

Jake is currently a land broker, and has been active in commercial real estate in the Dallas area for over 30 years. In 1995, he moved to Colorado and became the President and General Manager of an outdoor adventure company that provided hunting, fishing and horseback riding trips through remote regions of the San Juan Mountains (a business he took over after his son-in-law was tragically killed in a plane crash). He enjoys videography/photography, backpacking, camping, hunting and writing. His perfect day would be on a boat in the Virgin Islands with his wife, Jeni.

Jake and his wife currently reside in McKinney, Texas. He has a 37-year-old daughter, Jamie Carlson, and a 35 year-old son Jay, as well as three stepsons, Donnie (40), Mark (39) and Michael (37), and nine grandchildren (six boys and three girls). His birth date is August 21, 1941.

I wonder if Jake can do one-arm push-ups, as his picture reminds me of a YOUNGER Jack Palance. Not bad.

I always wind up picking guys like this in the pool. Rudy, Mike, Frank... Given that each winner is completely different from the last, picking the same non-winning type every time is a strategy that just might work around the Survivor 19 timeframe.

And, yeah, I'll prob'ly be picking ol' Jake in the office pool this time. What is WRONG with me?

It's time for an older person to win I think.

S4 broke shattered a few Survivor "rules", a middle aged woman was not voted off first, the final two contestants were not one male one female, the final two were not from the same original tribe.
Perhaps S5 can go one step further and have an older winner.

And Jake looks like he could be the older person to win Survivor. He's strong and knowledgeable. I think he should tighten the ropes of the Sook-Jai team and be more assertive with his stance. Jake had the same idea as Jed as far as divvying the work up, and he should've put Robb in his little temper tantrum.

I think Jake is trying very hard not to appear to be in the leadership role. I think his letting Robb go on a tantrum was a good plan, because it'll get people disliking Robb, and not him.

Robb's the obvious villain at this point.

I'm not sure I agree on Jake trying to avoid the leadership role. He made continual references to "my crew," which could just be a way of referring to the people on his team, but it sounded more "hierarchical" to me. And he told Robb he should've come down on him instead of Shii Ann. He could've just let that one slide.

Still, I like his chances. He seems very likeable and incredibly fit for a man his age.
When you're ten years old and a car drives by and splashes a puddle of water all over you, it's hard to decide if you should go to school like that or try to go home and change and probably be late. So while he was trying to decide, I drove by and splashed him again. - Jack Handey

I also like how he mediated the spat between Robb and Shii-Ann. Or at least too responsibility for his part and that Robb should have been upset with HIM not her.

    I like the guy.

I think he said that to Robb, because Robb was yelling at shii Ann for doing something that Jake had told her to. I didn't see it as a "come to the boss" comment.
