Not only that, he just seemed to be so confused during that challenge. People kept telling him they were catching up, rounding the corner, almost there...they were trying to instill some urgency in the situation, and Phillip was acting as if they were strolling after dinner on a Sunday. It's as if the whole challenge appeared different to him. I don't know, but it was really strange. He most definitely was the reason they lost, and it was his hubris that did them in.

The irony of his "strategy" in that challenge was amazing. "We're not going to run because I have to pace myself, because I will eventually be carrying a lot more weight and I don't want to tire myself out." So then Corinne ends up with 60 pounds, and he still has his 20, and HIS OWN TEAM MEMBERS are passing him.

So arrogant. So delusional. And, sadly, surrounded by people who don't have enough sense to vote him out. Granted, he'd be a good pick to take to the finals, but they'll STARVE TO DEATH if they don't win any reward challenges before then.

I think Corinne's reasoning (of not voting a "favorite" out before the merge) is why they didn't try to blindside him.

Phillip's arrogance and refusal to admit his weakness is what got them in trouble. His weak legs....I could see the problem. They must be REALLY weak. It can be very difficult trudging through water, and it totally got the best of his lousy legs; water weighs a LOT. Between the 20 pounds and his weak legs, it was a no-brainer. IIRC, women tend to have stronger legs than men tend to, so not only was Corrine younger, but her legs work better. Women have less upper body strength, but we're not totally useless, strenghtwise. WE ARE DIFFERENT. If Corrine has an athletic background, seeing what happened is really no surprise. Phillip has macho issues.

Clown. I'm afraid that he is on the road to being named fan favorite in the final show. I still do not think he will win.

Just saw this on Philip's biography at the beginning of this thread. Apparently, he peeves himself.

Absolutely. He would refuse to be told what to do by a woman. Of that I am confident.

I don't think for a second that he will be 'fan favourite' this season, though. Malcolm or Cochran would take it before Phillip, I think.

Thank you for that. It made me want to check out his bio. Gave me quite a few laughs.
    Love how he said this:
Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: To win one million dollars and outwit the other contestants again.

    and we can't forget this:
Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: I am smart, can read people well, and I finished 2nd last time around as the The Specialist.
The guy drives me nuts but he definitely provides us with entertainment.

Pet Peeves: People who act like they know everything and do nothing. (From Phillip's bio)

We are always the most annnoyed by traits that we secretly despise within ourselves....

Phillip's upper body is strong - we've seen that in the challenges. But, his lower body is weaker. In the water challenge I think he was too focused on carrying the extra weight and not enough on the fact that they needed to keep MOVING.

In any business classes I've ever taken, the first step to problem solving in a team environment is: Define The Problem.

Philip's problem is that he frequently MISdefines the problem. Example: He believed the problem he was dealing with was to conserve his strength, under the assumption that he would end up carrying everyone else's weights. The actual problem was to avoid being tagged by the other team. His inability to grasp even that simple fact (especially when all of his team members were yelling that they need to hurry up, and he kept saying NO) is astounding. There are synapses in his brain that aren't firing.
