I just don't think he should have played differently! He just got edged out of the final three, so his strategy getting there was solid. No matter what he tried, he was going to be perceived as a threat, but his likeability, loyalty, and letting the others take themselves out was a great strategy for him last time. I think he blew it by thinking he needed to do something different. With a secret idol in his pocket, he could have stuck with his original alliance and tried to get the immunities he needed. There was no guarantee he would make final four with the numbskulls anyway.

Brooks: thanks for the info. From what I have read from other contestants there is a great need for mental and emotional "rest and recovery" that came take a month or more to achieve.

IMO Malcolm may just not be thinking as clearly as he was in his first season.

And he did have Denise to work with. She quite obviously contributed a lot to how well he played the first time around.

Well, I think Malcolm's trying to put together a new alliance was poorly timed and he just didn't have the people to make it work. Now everyone knows what he was trying to do, so his name is mud.

However, getting Reynold to give him the HII at tribal council was BRILLIANT. (It would have been SUPER brilliant if the Specialist team had actually voted for Malcolm)

Malcolm and Denise worked so closely together, from day one he always had an ally to bounce ideas off of and vice versa. I think this time around he's trying to make the big moves, but he is forced to do it alone and that's obviously not working as well. That, and the fact that he keeps trusting Dawn, the Black Widow, with all his ideas. Gotta hand it to her, she's pulled one over on him big time.

Dawn is not Denise, Malcolm, even if they both start with D!

Seriously! I don't know what is up with Dawn, and how she keeps getting people to confess all to her before she runs off and rats them out. Good for her, it's getting her where she wants to go, but I wonder if, once they start the jury, these people won't remember that she was the one doing all the backstabbing for Stealth-R-Us?

If she makes F3 that would be a point she could argue in her favor--I'm not a floater, I was active, you gotta respect that I fooled you. I think all this doubledealing is hard on her though...maybe why she is crying in the previews. She's basically a nice person, which is what Malcolm is responding to, and she has to go against her own nature to do this...and can only do it by reminding herself that those 6 kids she adopted need college funds. I think Malcolm would respond to that argument.

Malcolm is making some mistakes, (trusting Dawn after she backstabbed him), but at least he is trying to play the game. I hate players that just "sit there" knowing that they are 5th, 6th, 7th in the pecking order, but they do nothing to try to advance their own status in the game. They just complacently keep voting the way they are told to, too afraid to upset their "alliance" who is planning on voting them out just as soon as they no longer need their vote.

I'd much rather see Malcolm get voted out while he's fighting for his survival than to watch him be a sheep.

And I want to see Reynold voted out because Malcolm plays his own idol.

Me too. But if Malcolm plays his own idol and Reynold is not voted out, I hope Malcolm has life insurance lined up, LOL.
