"Becoming the second and fastest female amputee to finish the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii in 2007"

Quite impressive. I hope she does great!

I like her, I'm just worried that her tribe will vote her off because she won't be as good in the physical challenges.

Why wouldn't she be good in challenges? She finished the iron man which is tough for someone with all their limbs. I would say that would make her a tough competitor despite the handicap.

She won't necessarily be bad, but her other tribemates will view it as a disability and vote her off.

    Chad got halfway.
Christie managed to get most of the way in Amazon.
If she's athletic, she'll be fine.

The "image" of the disability will have more affect than it's physical nature.
People having pity on her, or people worried that others will have pity on her. And if she gets past the start and it's novelty nature, then people will adjust and ignore it.

You have to be a totally sick athlete to do the Ironman. She should be a monster in the challenges...anyone who can swim over 2 miles, then bike a hundred-and-some miles, THEN run a marathon, is going to leave everyone else in the dust. I can't wait to see her compete (and hopefully see some stunned faces on the other Survivors).

OK, what a back story, her own, her dad, a med student....you go, girl! She even looks nice, and not like a bimbo.

As soon as I heard her "story" I was aware that Dr Rich Bruno was her dad

A really nice guy, fellow Pittsburgher I met here in Florida,
    all around good person...

sadly he led the Lynn University group on their humanitarian mission to Haiti
the very day that the earthquake struck

Rich was in the Montana Hotel, the last of the Lynn Group to be found

I am really rooting for Kelly ~ he was very proud of her, and spoke of her
    athletic feats

BTW....Rich told us once that Kelly was friends with the gal who was a contestant on The Amazing Race a few years ago....the blonde girl who was also an amputee runner/athlete

    RIP Dr Rich

I know he would be so proud of Kelly....

    GO KELLY !!
