    'Survivor 13' Contestants Announced!

CBS has announced the new contestants for Survivor 13: Cook Islands. The twist is confirmed. As suspected, the contestants have been split into 4 tribes of 5 according to race (Hispanic, White, African-American, and Asian-American). The contestants are:

Asian American Tribe: Yul, Anh-Tuan, Becky, Brad, and Jenny.

White Tribe: Adam, Pavarti, Jessica, Jonathan, and Candice

Hispanic Tribe: Cristina, Billy, Cecilia, Oscar, and J.P.

African-American Tribe: Sundra, Stephannie, Sekou, Nathan, and Rebecca.

I think the Hispanic Tribe looks pretty strong. No one on the African-American tribe looks that strong, but then again, no one expected Cirie to do so well either. It looks like a good cast. Hopefully, they'll provide an exciting season.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really care for the tribes being divided by race. What's the point?

And once again, we have a nursing student from my state - Stephannie, I think her name is. Let's hope she's not afraid of leaves.

I loathe this idea. What exactly will this venture prove? And that's not a retorical question, I actually wanna know.

I guess it's a twofer: bring in more minorities and see how they stack up against each other. Sure, it's sounds awfully racist, but then again, under that assumption, dividing the teams by gender and age is also a form of sexism and ageism.

At least these tribes of 4 have one more person that last season but I hope this isn't a twist where by the second or third episode they dissolve the tribes into 2 tribes. I'm not crazy about this twist. I'll give it a chance but I think it may be a bust.

ETA: Sheesh, do they have enough people from California?

I am anti racially divided tribes. Maybe because I'm a mix, but in general anytime you divy up by race you're going to have some really hateful things happen.

I don't like the division of tribes either....but TPTB aren't stupid...this is going to generate publicity. And no matter how many people think this is a bad idea, people will be turning in to watch the show.

To get people lining up in the streets beating up on each other because of a reality show?

Okay, I exaggerate. But this is a stupid, divisive idea. It sucks.

It's a big turnoff to me. What's going to happen is that much tighter bonds will be made pre-merge, and that will take a lot of suspense out of the game later on.

This might be as dumb a decision as Amazing Race's Year of the Toddler, though it's hard to imagine a bigger mistake. At any rate, it's probably time to skip a Survivor season. No good can come out of this.
