Talking strategy.... I think the most clever thing for Helen to do, would be to make an alliance with Jan, Clay, and if needed - Penny! Jan & Clay should be easy to persuade, as they are both weaker than Ted&Brian or Jake&Ken for that matter, and would at least have a little chance to reach final 2 that way, imo.

Yeah. That's why Ted is still around and will be, as well as Jake. Ever since the first season, when they edited Richard as this evil guy while in reality he kept the tribe together, I play this "who's really calling the shots" game. For a while I thought it may be Penny and Jake, but it's been Jake all along. You could just tell the way he was talking. Interesting stuff.

Cause he does really well at not pissing anybody off, but at some point that surely has to change right? Maybe not.

That depends on everybodies favorite suck-as, and my fave to win, Brian. When the tribes didn't merge, he suddenly smelled of roses, and he'll tell you I'm sure. But what he is doing right is being mostly kind and fakely gentile towards the others. I wonder if everybody is secretly sick of his "I'm the leader" preening?

Whatever, he kicked ass at that last IC, with everybody watching. He swam in with the idle, handed it to Jeff, and got it back from him. If there is any doubt who is controlling destinies these last couple eps, jsut look at Brain and the IC's. His poles won the last one, his blowing abilities (soft porn LOL!!!) won this one. If he keeps his mouth shut he will be a milionaire soon.

    But can that happen?

Strange, rooting for somebody I would be utterly repulsed by IRL....

What I wouldn't give to see her really lose it and try to bring back from the dead her little collection of animal parts. That would be awesome.
Perhaps Paulie's next precap will feature Jan and a voodoo ritual?

I have to confess... I've been unfaithful.... I've been reading speculations somewhere else. It seems like the RC is a obstacle course for individual immunity. Also, that they will see a part of the videos before the RC, but only the winner will get to see the entire video. The winner is Brian. Pure speculation, of course, but sounds interesting though...

I don't think the Sook's appreciated her pointing out the fact they had to go to TC last week either.

There is an old saying that applies to politics. That being, when you have popularity and political capital, use it judiciously, for you will surely find it draining away no matter what you do.

Helen should have made it clear to the boys, especially Clay, that her vote against Ghandi saved their butts, and she should have pushed for their committment to her. We all know that could easily backfire, but in the alternative, it does appear that Helen has wasted her standing.

Agreed... However, just b/c we haven't seen it, doesn't mean she didn't do it . (Although, I really don't think so - she doesn't seem to have that in her.)

    Oh I agree with you.

This brings up a bigger point though. Does anyone else feel robbed by MB's editing this time around?

I think that there are key plot lines being lost in the desperate need to show that he can keep the winner a mystery. Well guess what, if you don't tell the story, the winner will certainly be a mystery.

Either that, or these people are a complete box of rocks. While my first inclination might be to believe that, there has been just too much evidence to the contrary, such as comments about Penny being a schemer, but we have seen nothing until last week to support those assertions. Or Erin's comments about alliances that were not shown.

I really think it has to do with editing and making the end interesting.

All this time and there was no explaining why, exactly Erin got the boot. But that right there showed me who all along had been calling the shots for Sook Jai. A lot more must have been said off camera for the Jake/Ken/Penny 3 headed monster to keep itself hidden till now. Erin was "shocked" by it, but she shouldn't have been. It was just that a lot more went on than she saw or we were allowed to see.

For whatever reason this has thus far been my favorite since the second season. The people I really hated, and I mean in the sense that I would not watch the show had they remained (Preacher, Ghandia, Rob "two b's"b) are outta there.

Next episode, they almost HAVE to go to individual immunity.

Somehow they need to get rid of Helen for me, as well as Jan. I said before that Penny seemd annoying but played the game right. As much as the guys say her looks don't do anything for them, men lie about such things. I'm a guy. I know. She'll stay around for a bit.

MB seems to have taken to the theory that "if they are gonna go soon, give them a lot of face time and confessional time". Every ep lately, we see a crap load of people soon to go. Then what?

On second thought maybe Brain would be wise to make sure Helen gets to the finals with him. She is so annoying people would be forced to vote for him.

Even the teasers have been misleading. Oh well, the people know how to play the game, what did they expect? However, watching this group is cool. I mean they friggin' cried for my viewing pleasure, real actual tears, and I though wow that's awesome and honest!

The other thing that really kept impressing me is that Brian has done everything he has to do in order to win. He took controll of the group, took controll of the IC's, and if he wins the next one as he is rumored to do (I love internet rumors), he is safely away to the final 4.

And Again- I know this is the ep 9 thread, but man I just watched the chicken scene again and my god that is the funniest thing I have ever seen on survivor.

Jake- "Blah Blah Blah, I can sure talk a lot when the camera is on me!"

Jan- her face was like a horror movie moment. It was as good as the chicks face in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 when the girl sees the grandfather!

Clay- awesome one liners this week for the resident male annoyance.

Ted- was to sound like the things I hate about my fellow countymen. You won't look at the thing getting killed but you will eat it? WTF kind of logic was that?

Then the second burial. You have to really look at it a couple times to appreciate it all. She's freaking out, and says the death is not senseless.

She is in tears mutering almost incoherently about burying Lucky's head and feet next to Oliver, saying she didn't know her Pet Cemetary would be so active. Wow. A real live melt down shown on t.v.

Not a huge, end of the world, restrainment needed kind of melt down, but a melt down none-the-less.

She says she is putting the stuff next to Oliver so that "they can be friends".

She is then happy they are together and wishes them good luck. For whatever drama they sacrificed this week to include this clip, I thank you MB. That was so messed up I can't believe it. I had friends over earlier who had never seen the show and they laughed at it.

Maybe the cemetary is a metaphore for her chances at winning a million dollars?

    Hmmmm....
