Okay, I know that the winner gets 1 million, but...

I THINK I know this much:

    Winner: 1,000,000
    runner up 100,000

-But what does everyone else make?
    - Do they get paid extra for making the merge?
    - Are they paid for their time ahead of Day One?

    Just curious :

    shrug

I believe they get a per diem, probably $100/day or some other really small figure. If they make it to the jury, they get a sizable bump in compensation, but I would venture to say that third place still only gets around $10k.

While Jeff Probst is talking to Jan and Helen about getting 3rd and 4th place, he mentions that the prize difference between them is something like $15,000 dollars.

I'd guess (little more than conjecture):
    3rd - $50,000
    4th - $35,000
    5th - $30,000
    6th - $25,000
    7th - $20,000
    8th - $15,000
    9th - $10,000
    10-16 get a daily stipend

If I'm thinking correctly, I believe I heard somewhere that the first boot gets $2,500. The amount of money is indeed based on how far someone gets in the game.

I remembered having read an article about this a long time ago, so I searched and found it:

    http://abcnews.go.com/sections/enter...ate082500.html

It is in $15,000 increments to a point. The prizes quoted were

    3rd - $85,000
    4th - $70,000
    ...
    9th - $27,500
    16th - $2,500

I think...... the following applies, $5000.00 to the day 3 bootee, $10,000.00 to day 6 bootee, so forth and so on in $5000.00 increments until the 14th bootee, who received $70,000.00, then $100,000.00 to the 15th person, and like you stated, $1,000,000.00 to the winner.

    Thanks, all.

But don't the early bootees get to travel locally? How much of that
is paid for, I wonder? That'd sort of equate to implicit wages over and above the 'salary'

And if loser lodge is not too shabby, that might be kinda vacationey, too.

I remember Helen once said (something to the effect that )coming in third sucks because you don't get to travel or relax in the loser lodge AT ALL.

Though I always imagined that time in the loser lodge is painful psychologically any way you shake it

Also, as an aside, I also heard recently that these reality shows cost as much to make as scripted shows

    Okay, now I'm, rambling.

    Thanks for the info, guys!

    Welcome ManySkills,
I remember an interview I saw from S3 (I think it may have been Clarence) where he said that after the first 7 Survivors got the boot, they left the Loser's Lounge and went on an African Safari, which was incredible. I imagine the Producers paid the tab on this, and I am guessing the reason that they do this is because they probably utilize the same accomodations for the 7 members of the jury, and they basically want the first 7 to get out of town before the 7 jury members arrive, so that there is no interaction between the 2 seperate groups. As far as cost goes, take a look at how much one episode of Friends would cost, as opposed to one episode of Survivor. On Friends, the salaries alone are probaly over 5 million dollars. I imagine the cost of a Survivor camp infratructure is probably about 10 million (Just a guess), so in retrospect, I can't imagine a season of Survivor fiscally outpacing a top notch Network Series. Welcome to the board.. Roz
