Jake knows better than to mess with the Shii Devil.

He seems very level headed, especially during his individual camera time. He seems like a smart guy. He will need to be really careful about that leadership thing though. I also got the impression that he thinks it's "his" team. You put a lot of youngsters together and they can rebel against that kind of thing in a hurry. I think he should be very selective about the instances he chooses to step into a leadership role, let 'em struggle a little and make a few mistakes along the way. It's good to have a little of that so other people can become leaders and targets.
Iím haunted a little this evening by feelings that have no vocabulary and events that should be explained in dimensions of lint rather than words.

Didn't see much of Jake this week. But, I like that he took the front end of that thing in the RC, it shows he has the strength to make it. The only thing I remember hearing from him all episode was "you walked me into a tree!" (actually, a bamboo pole).

Hopefully he will be able to hold the tribe together, they will need someone with a level head to ward off potential Robb/Jedd squabbles.
He chose what he thought would be a physically strong team, but unfortunately they have a couple of individuals that aren't interested in team work round the camp.

I'm sort of hoping that Robb and Jed have a huge fight and that tribe falls apart! Heehee

Robb (imo) has shown a better work ethic than Jed so far.

I don't get the impression that Robb is used to really taxing himself physically, so it is bound to be annoying to him that he is putting so much additional effort in and Jed isn't.

Robb doesn't seem the type to keep his feelings in check either so there could be sparks if he feels Jed isn't working as hard as the others.

Jake's performance on this show reminds me of Michael Landon in "Little House on the Prairie". He's a guy who's in charge, but is compassionate and all-knowing about it, and plays it low-key.

He's really acting out the father-figure ideal, giving Shii Ann advice, and showing that he's well aware that "kids will be kids".

And that hat, I want one! Do I have to move to Texas to be allowed to wear it, though?

I'm not a big Shii-Ann fan, and truth be told, wanted her gone before Stephanie.

That Shii-Ann/Jake moment was so sweet and you could tell it just made her feel so much better. Haven't gotten to seen much of Jake, aside from his gross feet, but he could be in contention for the Rodger Bingham Sweetheart award.
If you go through a lot of hammers each month, I don't think it necessarily means you're a hard worker.
It may just mean that you have a lot to learn about proper hammer maintenance.

    I really like Jake.

H e certianly seems to more than "hold his own" with the younger men when it comes to the challenges and really is the voice of reason in the tribe.

His moment with Shii Ann was very touching.
I hope she thanked him for making her feel better.
I'm sure that moment meant a lot to her.

I didn't like Jake in the beginning...maybe because I didn't like the people he picked for his team.

But he's up there in the Top 3 (Brian, Ken, Jake)
