Beginning in a whole new way.

Here is the transcript from the original S5 preview shown during the S4 finale.


This fall, Survivor ventures in to the mystical land of the anicient warrior, Thailand. 1Sixteen Americans wil be abandoned far from civilisation in the middle of the Andaman Sea, on a remote tropical rainforest surrounded by crystal blue waters and mammoth limestone topography.
Once again our survivors will be forced to work together to build a new world in an exotic land, but this time it's the monsoon season.
They will be pummelled by frequent storms. They will encounter an array of exotic wildlife and will be on the lookout for the worlds longest snake...the reticulated python, growing up to lengths of 30 feet.
And the Survivors will begin their adventure in a whole new way. An event that will impact the entire game ahead of them. As always the game will feature surprising new twists and all new surprising challenges as our 16 strangers are forced to live together, for 39 days of battling the elements, and each other. Their goal...Outwit, Outplay, Outlast the others, to become the sole survivor. Survivor Thailand begins this fall.

Any thoughts on how the game will begin?

Before S4 started the official CBS website clearly showed which tribe each contestant would be in.
This time the contestant profiles are simply listed in alphabetical order (first name) women then men.

Obviously the Producers and the Network have an "ace up there sleeve.
Could it be that the tribes are beginning the game split into two tribes along gender lines, or could it be that they start out as one team of sixteen?

I think it would be really cool if they split into men/women, then appointed team captains and had those captains choose their teams one person at a time.

(I have no inside knowledge or scoop/spoiler of this, I just think it would be neat. ;) Mark Burnett did something similar in Combat Missions at the end so I wouldn't be surprised if he did it here....)

I keep flip flopping in my thought process (uh-oh ;))
I've heard rumor and have seen photo's that would suggest the genderline split, but I don't see that being how the tribes are split. BF could very well be right, but I don't see the purppose of splitting them up by gender to choose a captaian (unless the women compete amongst themselves, as do the men then the winner is a team captain....:confused )

Only a few more days until we know :)

Call me jaded but I think its blah blah blah. I really think the most likely scenario - jet to shore in nifty speeed boats. No ho hum row for hours :sleep.

On shore, and Jiffy says men one way, women the other. They allegedly visit a local village or school for gratuitous handing over of generous Survivor donation of Reebok buffs and Mountain Dew.Locals look happy and grateful for Bwana Marks largess .-(See this is reading like a screenplay-)

Survivor crew looks happy they have done a good deed. Then,
some kind of straw draw or god forbid, return of the purple stone(s). Or the old fave stand on the rock/tree stump and find your buff underneath .....

Voila your new teams....

Well, they GUARANTEE that this is a whole new game :rolleyes

I've given up in thinking that any twist will really be an exciting twist! Hopefully I'll eat my words on Thursday night, but I won't hold my breath.

Here's what I heard last night. "This time, they're starting in a whole new way, and you'll never guess how!" So, it's not the gender thing, because that's been discussed way too much.

Maybe they will show the entire season in reverse.
That's the only hting I can see as not having been discussed :D

I think we're looking at buffs under stumps again. The reason for dividing the Survivors up by gender is to ensure that each group of 8 sits on stumps that have been pre-divided half and half. As a result, the usual configuration of 4 men and 4 women per team will be assured.

But I'll never guess HOW they pull their buffs out from under their stumps!
