    Survivor episodes

    Does anyone know if CBS and Mark Burnett will release all the seasons of Survivor on VHS or DVD? I'm sure it would be a veritable gold mine for them...I'm really surprised they haven't done it already.

    When I was looking for a copy of season one, I contacted someone in their webstore to see if and when they would be releasing it. The lady I was speaking to bluntly replied "Never.": Sure hope she was wrong/misinformed/in a bad mood, because I'd really like to get this if it were made available.

    So is there any insiders out there who know for sure or who've heard rumours?

    So far, all they've ever released were summarized versions of Seasons 1 and 2. They were, frankly, very disappointing. As I mentioned in another thread, I think Burnett and Company could recoup some of those lost syndication dollars if they rolled out high-quality "special edition" DVDs which included every episode of each season and hours and hours of previously unreleased footage. I really think that's an untapped gold mine waiting to be exploited. The stable Survivor fan base is quite large, and many of the more rabid fans (like myself) would buy those DVDs in a heartbeat.

    I'd snap them up as well! It seems like such an obvious marketing decision that I find it remarkable that nothing is out already. Maybe they're waiting for the last season to release them all as a box set. If that's the case and if Survivor continues to be as popular as it is, it may be quite some time before that happens.

    For what it's worth, I don't think the web store would make the decision on whether or not these DVDs get produced. The person you talked to just sounds like they were having a day or else they were just mean.

    Yeah, I certainly got that impression! I'd love to send an email to CBS brass and/or MB's production company enquiring about it if I thought I'd get any sort of response. I've emailed CBS about their programs before and have never heard anything back from them, but given the volume of email they likely receive it's totally understandable.
