Benefit: Diabetes Action Research & Education Foundation Diabetes Action is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to supporting education about diabetes and diabetes research to enhance the quality of life for all people affected by diabetes. The emphasis is on nutritional therapies for prevention and treatment.

I'm really curious how they chose Cincinnati....

One of my best friends is putting this together.

She chose Cincinnati because that's where she lives, and plus.. Survivor draws the most viewers from Cincinnati in the USA.

That's a very interesting stat...I wonder why that is?

I would love to go, I doubt I would have the chance though...unless for some reason airfare to Cincy that weekend was one of those cheapy last minute ones.

I think it's great that the contestants devote some of their time to causes such as this.

Not to sound too cynical here, but what else are they gonna do? If they want to retain their tenuous grasp on celebrity, they need to stay in the public eye somehow. I'm sure many of them are devoted to the causes they support, and I respect that. I'm equally sure others are just doing it for the exposure. I guess that's all right. They're elevating the cause regardless of their motivation.

I agree that some of them *coughJennaMikeBoogieChiaraKel lyGoldsmithcough* are the architypal media whores.
I doubt the offers will come rolling in from this though so I have to say all in all I do think it's good that they're doing this.

Although I know he would certianly consider a media career, John Carroll devotes so much time to charitable efforts (did for years before he went on the show) that I feel his presence is probably sincere.

I just hope they raise a lot of money.

John is an excellent example of a grounded, sincerely-motivated individual.

All cynicism aside, BTW, I'd love to go to this thing. My dad has Type II diabetes, and it's possible that my brother is following in his footsteps. A groomsman in my wedding and one of my wife's cousins also have Type I. So I support the cause, and I would love to see so many of those people. Maybe I'll just check out my calendar a little bit.
