Elisabeth Hasselbeck gives birth

Hasselbeck and her husband, NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck, announced the birth of their daughter, who weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, in a New York hospital Wednesday. The baby shares the same birthday as her father, ABC said.

She is the couple's first child.

"Both Elisabeth and I are extremely excited and we're so happy that everyone is healthy," Hasselbeck said in a statement.

Hasselbeck, who will be on maternity leave for about six weeks, will reveal the baby's name during a phone call Thursday to her co-hosts on the daytime chat fest.

She is a former contestant of "Survivor: The Australian Outback."

She was due Mar. 29th so it's about time. And the ladies on The View were wrong about the baby's sex; I watched one day last week, and they used these methods that people use to determine the baby's sex when it's unknown, and it looked like she was going to have a boy by the way the tests came out.

The baby's name is Grace Elisabeth (which also happens to be my cousin's name). They talked to Elisabeth for a few minutes today at the start of the show. I'm so happy for her!
