Why is he the favored scapegoat? Last year, the overwhelming evidence for a first episode Peter boot was very compelling. I haven't heard any specific evidence that John will go (and, granted, I haven't read any of the links you've posted).

I'm going with a John boot too, and the main reason, Paulie, is that he is out there on his website hawking crosses "like worn by John Raymond on S5" pre-show. From that I think he knows he'll be off the radar as soon as the first show airs. That's the main reason I've seen.
