survivor is now a bit darker
the poem guy denied his fame
instead of being a marker
they skip us right to the game

my heart grew heavy as time
went by and his work wasn't shown
his clue-filled words so sublime
were cut, their delights unknown


will we ever get any more?
are his talents going to waste?
has he been given the door,
an intern installed in his place?


if the last, it is my hope
that someone is getting the same
an illicit back office grope
like monica's one claim to fame


alas i don't think they knew
the poem guy was so darn vital
the anticipation i knew
of waiting for this week's recital


but now he is gone and we cry
for not knowing just what we had
the brilliance of the poem guy
delighting with couplets so bad
