She did great last ep I agree. Only thing I had issue with was how she kind of rubbed it in with the other girls in the main waiting room there. Then again that's real common at auditions, pageants etc. Have witnessed it before. I just feel it's unnecessary.

She was the most focused & competitive though. I do think that as long as she's in the competition I'd rather see her give it her all than not. I feel she seems much more comfortable in the commercial arena though. It does alarm me if she's pushing people in an improv but we'll see what happens in full next ep I guess.

She'll succeed I think because she's focused, driven and knows the game. Just not sure of her as a regular actress yet. Bit of a live wire.

i'm sorry but Katie is the worst of them all, she should have been eliminated instead of Neva, and now she just irritates me more and more.
Her commercial was horrendous - from start to finish. She didn't even look luring in that last "unleash your style" line.
Her constant shrugging and head bopping gives away her insecurity and complete lack of confidence in herself. Plus she pronouces the words way to fast. Good-bye Katie!!!!

You gotta admire Katie. She doesnt have a lot of talent but she's got grit and drive and determination and focus. That'll take you a long way. Her voice isnt great but voice lessons will fix that quickly.
Too bad she's a little abrasive, tho she didnt attack anyone personally.

Katie

I have been watching the show for a few weeks now and ever since I saw this Katie girl, I've thought she looks SO familiar!! Now that I know she's also from Chicago, I wonder if I've ever seen/met her?? Weird. Anyways, I am not a huge fan of hers, I'd rather see Michelyn or Cecile win this thing.

I kind of had the same feeling - I think it's just that I'm from the midwest too and she sounds/looks like so many in the IL/WI/MN states...

Know who she kinda sounds like? Sue from the first "Survivor". eeeee LOL

I felt she purposely alienated the others in teh last ep so that she'd have that angst to work off for her scene. Her scene was exactly as if she was talking to the other girls in the house. She's the type I'd hate to hire because she'd create on-set drama just to get her emotions up for her scene. I felt her acting was over the top and didn't communicate the meaning of the scene... BUT she did have levels in the scene, which the others really did not.

Mercedes' acting was fine but a bit boring. However it would've fit into a real movie the best - since no one scene should really be that strong as Katie played it IMO (well not in a Hilary Duff movie).

Katie strikes me as super-manipulative. I just wish the others hadn't given her the spark she was looking for. She is totally feeding off the negative energy now, to focus herself with.

That she snuggled up to them in the hot tub and during the comments portion just irked me. How fake was that? I felt she was just trying to keep the others off balance. She makes no secret of wanting to eliminate her competition. Her behavior's confusing and borderline-personality-ish. Just whatever strikes her in teh moment appropriate or not. Her hug in front of the judges towards Lauren - ugh. Just knew Lauren would reject her - and make her look pitiable.

Then again she wouldn't be the first starlet who was conniving, competitive, or bitchy!

If she won though I'd feel a repulsion like when Richard Hatch did. I hope she doesn't win!

Honestly I felt her looks are not quite 'starlet' material, either. I will give her credit for trying her best - but I hate her mindgames behind the scenes.

Katie's clothes at the panel portion of the show have recently been the best - she looks the part. And sometimes it boils down to who gets it enough to look the part all other things being equal, so it does give Katie an advantage, knowing what to wear.

Mercedes... what's with the shmatte??

Hmm. I disagree. She has a very pronounced and very ugly regional accent. Even most of the people in the Midwest don't sound like her. I can't think of another actress who does, either. It's fine if she can modify it as needed. But I haven't seen any hint of that ability.

Phony sincerity: now that's Katie.

And she's so eager to dominate whoever she's in the scene with that I wouldn't be surprised if she picked up a prop and beat them over the head with it.

Katie needs to get a grip. Actors usually perform WITH other people, not AGAINST them.

You know what - you're right. I can't argue with anything you've said.

I don't see her accent as a problem in itself - BUT as a professional actress, you're right. She needs to be able to turn that on and off, to ditch the accent most of the time. I'm surprised any former teacher did not work with her on that. It's the first thing our high school drama teacher did with us (I am from IL too). I think there are occasions or roles where it might be okay (it didn't seem as pronounced when she did her tv ad, where she seemed the most comfortable) but yes, for a career, she's gotta have more training. (Maybe I didn't mind it most of the time cos I grew up around those accents - although hers is more Wisconsin. She's from near Chicago, right? IL accents even vary by region).

Edit to add: Her accent did annoy me, when she was herself being annoying. Seemed the more selfish her motives or more crass her suggestions to the other women, i.e. the harder she pushed - the more nasal and twangy her voice became. Whenever she was all in self justifyin' mode, she sounded just like "Sue" from Survivor. (Wonder whatever happened to the Survivor cast's 'acting careers'?).

Btw, With places like Louisville Rep, couldn't the producers find more viable candidates? Almost all of them had virtually no technique, experience or training. Maybe they wanted ones who were greener than Michelynne, so she'd be a winner most couldn't dispute. Only Mercedes really had some acting chops, and even she had an unprofessional attitude on-set, sometimes, IMO.

not sure this link works because it's a pay site that usually has one day access.

but, it's a take on Katie by their media critic as one of the most obnoxious reality show contestants.

Poor Katie. No one says anything nice about her. I liked her ok, she worked hard-certainly harder than anyone else- and deserved to get as far as she did.
