I was surprised that they lost too.

I, too, was disappointed. I like the Bryan brothers and the calendar year grand slam in men's doubles has been accomplished only once back in the early 1951 by Fred Sedgman and Ken McGregor It was hoping the Bryans would become the second pair.

In women's doubles, it was also accomplished only once with the same partners for all four tounaments (Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver) in 1984. Martina Hingis did it in 1998 and Maria Bueno in 1960, but neither of them had the same partner for all four tournaments.

It's just as rare in mixed doubles. Margaret Court and Ken Fletcher are the only ones to have done it in 1963. Court did it again in 1964, but with different partners, as did Owen Davidson in 1967 with Billie Jean King as his partner for three of them.

I do kind of like this type of statistic.

Have errands to run and one place I need to be today. Hoping to get home in time to see SOME tennis - hopefully it will be Rafa's match.

Found out that Nole has the late game.

Djokovic and Wawrinka just finished up and the results were what I expected . . . . although it took longer to get there than I thought it would.

ETA: 5pm - got a text that Rafa's game has started

It took a lot longer than expected! Good match and kudos to Wawrinka!

Now Rafa's match just what I expected!

Serena wins the US Open and collect a cool 3.6 MILLION DOLLARS for her prize.

Because I can't take too much of the squealing and screaming, I watched just a little bit of the 2nd set. I really thought she was gonna b*tch$lap somebody because the wind refused to stop blowing.

I've been gone all day. What happened to delay the men's final? Rain?

No, this year it was actually scheduled for Monday. Evidently the players have been pushing for this for years.
