    Re: Tennis

Djokovic pulled out of the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters because of a bad knee. Federer has said he thinks he can make up some ground in the points. Without #2 in the game, it would stand to reason. Could he do it with Nole still there . . . . . I doubt it!

    Nadal triumphs on clay . . . . . again!

Guess Federer's hopes of gaining ground on Djokovic will have to wait. He was knocked out early by #9 Melzer in straight sets.

ETA: He now stands at 501 after defeating Ferrer (again) in the final. He holds the record for being the only player to win TWO TOURNAMENTS MORE THAN SIX CONSECUTIVE TIMES!

I flipped by the match today and thought it was a reshowing of last week's match so I turned off the TV. Doh!

It did seem like deja vu all over again!!

Correction on the new achievement . . . should not have read "consecutive", but he still has won two tournaments a record number of times:

    Barcelona 6 times
    Monte Carlo 7 times

Looks like we need to get used to that Football Chick!

Personally, the only problem I have with that match-up is deciding who to root for! The weather is warming up so Nole is going to lose some steam - he just can't take the heat. There's a pretty slim margin between #1 and #2 (only 405 points as of today), with Federer still at the #3 spot, over 3000 points behind Djokovic.

Should be an interesting French Open.

The French Open will be a good test for Novak. It will be the first "best of 5" on clay for him. So far, he's had it a bit easy with best of 3 (not that playing Rafa is ever easy! )

I have to admit - while it might seem boring to some to see the same 2 players in the finals, both are so dynamic I always enjoy seeing them play!

If the 2 make it to the finale, it will be pretty exciting. Novak has really been on a roll lately.

Marathon Man Isner really put Rafa to the test yesterday. Hard to believe their match went 5 sets this early in the tournament.
