I suppose the answer would be that the scoring in gymnastics is mostly subjective based on their execution of the moves along with the level of difficulty. Swimmers are judged only by the clock, there are no judges scores to pick apart in case of a tie.

I hope so too! I live 2 hours away from Chicago and my kids live there. I can stay at their places, that will save alot of money in hotel rooms!

Tokyo, Japan has the best chance.. and they were followed by Spain then US (Chicago) and Rio was last.

However McCain's use of the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee, that he chaired, to pressure the IOC to reform and for the President, Juan Antonio Samaranch, to resign in wake of the Salt Lake City bribery scandal has caused tension between the US and the IOC.. and yes that could be a sore spot still.
