Re: Summer Olympics: Beijing, China

I just watched the Floor Gymnatic (men) and i felt very bad when seeing the Brazilian tumble at the end. He was really good and if he didnt fall, he wouldve made it to the top 3. His reaction was very sad and emotional. Goes to show the Olympics means a lot to these athletes.

Marleybone, Did you catch his interview with Jim Lampley today? He was talking about how much his mother meant to him and he went on and on about how, growing up, he watched his single mother work full time, go to graduate school, all while making sure that he and his sisters had whatever they needed. He talked about knowing that she worked very very hard to make sure he and his sisters were taken care of and how much he admired her. It was a very touching commentary on the love he has for her.

During his first individual win, I think it was, they showed him on the podium telling the third place finisher "I can't find my mom!" as he was looking for her in the stands. Awww

I also loved it how he mentioned he was picked on so much when he was little and now, being an Olympic Legend, he have people who picked on him back then wants to be friends with him again (facebook).

I also love the part when they described Michael re-met one of his bully who said congratulations and Michael said he doesnt recongnized him, only to find out he does and the only reason why he didnt acknowledge him was the fact that he was one of the people who picked on him before. Therefore, why should Michael give him any respect when that guy didnt give him any.

Love Michael!

Yeah, Romania won the Floor Exercise. She had 5 tumbling passes. Now the commentators are explaining how Shawn Johnson really should have won. Oh, NBC commentators please give it a rest. At least Bela Koroli is being gracious with his comments.

Once every 4 yrs do we, the viewing audience, gets a chance to see the top gymnast of the world. NBC seriously needs to address the Olympic credo and realize that there are other countries in the world besides the United States.

you are so right. i was hoping they will show the brazilians.

I started crying with him a little. I felt so bad for him. He was on the cusp of winning the first medal in Gymnastics for Brazil.

Furthermore, did anyone see what happened to the Hungarian weightlifter Janos Baranyai? The guy dislocates his elbow (both bones) during a lift. My heart goes out to the guy who survived what looked to be the most painful thing I have ever seen in my life. The good part of it is that it is not as damaging an injury as it looked.
