Hell yes Vandy is eligible for a bowl game for the first time since 1982!!! Woo hoo!!! (I just got woken up by drunk frat boys celebrating this event, so I figure I might as well share the celebration with you guys while I'm awake )

    Re: College Football 2008

We met friends for drinks yesterday and were the ONLY 2 people in the entire bar/restaurant in orange and blue. Everyone else had on SC Gamecock colors. After a thourough whupping of 56-6, the entire bar was telling us: "just please, beat the he** out of Alabama for the SEC title". It was rather funny. I expected to get booed, but everyone was so nice to us. (I think they know SC just isn't doing it at all).

We play the Citadel next week. I don't know why. It's like playing a HS team. Won't even be that interesting to watch.

MRD- I think Florida has a really good chance of making it to the National Championship again this year. Their team is strong. Even though I'll be rooting for Alabama, I think Florida has a good shot of winning that game as well.

Lucy- Congrats to Vandy! I was rooting for them this season. I'm glad they are bowl eligible this year! They deserve it. Go celebrate, but stay away from the drunk frat boys!

Broadway/YardGnome, we may now begin our trash talking for next week. The Big Ten Title is on the line!

    Re: College Football 2008

Ashley, I'm really hoping for that this year, but I've been a Florida fan (as well as a Democrat) all my life, so I know not to count chickens before they've hatched. Florida as with the Democrats is famous for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. But maybe with a big Democrat victory in this years elections, Florida will also do well.

I will remain cautiously optimistic until the final score in the Alabama SEC title game. That's the only one that worries me. If we can win that one, then I have confidence we could win another BCS title.

So lets see. Penn State loses one, the Buckeyes win out and move up in the polls and I win my bet with Ashley, along with the Big Ten and go to the Rose Bowl.

    Re: College Football 2008

I know ya'll are talking about Bama vs. Florida but lemme tell you....Bama is off this next week but the next week is THE game here in the state...Bama vs. Auburn. Now everyone knows I don't give 2 hoots about football but this damn state SHUTS DOWN for this game...and it will only be magnified a gazillion times because heaven help if Auburn should happen to be the one to break the undefeated Bama!

My Bama loving S.O. has already said that should they happen to lose to Auburn, he will NOT go to my (Auburn loving) families house anytime in the near future! Even tho my Auburn loving family has pretty much resigned themselves to losing to Bama....it has the potential of not being very pretty if the opposite should occur.

I can joke with the S.O. about it but I can tell you right now, the day of the game I will KNOW to keep my mouth shut

Auburn is not beating Bama this year. I'd be willing to place a bet on that game.
