2007 Grand Prix

The 2007 Grand Prix has hit Edmonton and it's hot! This is our 3rd year hosting on a fabulous track at the CityCentre Airport. Fans can see 80% of the track at all times. Of course, the first thing is to Crown Miss Grand Prix!
Anyone have any favorites?

Re: 2007 Grand Prix

The Grand Prix of Edmonton is the third leg of the new Canadian Triple Crown and the team with the best overall finish for the three Canadian Races: Mont-Tremblant, Toronto and Edmonton will win a beautiful Inuit carved trophy.

Why race NEAR an airport when you can race ON an airport!! In the middle of town!.” The 1.973 mile fourteen(yes 14) turn course at Edmonton like the course at Cleveland, is a temporary course set up on an airport. In this case Edmonton’s City Centre Airport.

With race attendance Sunday projected to be near 80k and 200k for the weekend it is one of the most attended races in Canada and in the series. The are several reasons. One of which is Canadians love open wheel racing and two Canadian stars: 2003 Champion Paul "The Thrill From West Hill" Tracy of Forsythe Championship Racingand Alex Tagliani of RSports in his Tide/Wal-Mart/Victory Lap Charity Panoz DP01 will be racing.

The other is that 80pct of the fans in the stands can see the entire track facility. It is one of the best laid out courses in racing!

Mario Andretti is the Grand Marshall this year and Budweiser was named Official Beer this year! 300,000 beer cups have been ordered for race weekend!

You get to see Champ car, Nascar, and Atlantic races all on the same day.

So why do you only watch Nascar?

Re: 2007 Grand Prix

This specially-built FIA road course is one of the most fan-friendly circuits in the Champ Car series. 80% of the track can be easily seen from anywhere in the stands. You'll be able to track practice and qualifying and watch multiple duels as race day unfolds. Speeds on the straightaway will exceed 320 km/h and several turns will offer prime overtaking opportunities.

Here's a couple photos of the track from the air:

Re: 2007 Grand Prix

The Grand Prix has left the country. Catch it in San Jose.

Winner was Bourdelais, any doubt? Fans, sponsors, and drivers, and tourists all were winners as well.

Same time next year?
